radeon 8500 vs TI4200

there are many subjects to cover for this. first of all i think for a gamer who wants to buy a new graphic card it should be 128Mb not 64 , but when we take a look at the 128mb version of the TI4200 it uses 4ns but the radeon 8500 128MB (retail) uses 3.6 and i have personally seen a 3.2ns version (with huge heat sinks) at pricewatch. Anyways i looked at some benchmarks at sharkyextreme with latest drivers for both cards comapring the 8500 64MB and ti4200 64mb and in all tests the 8500 beats the ti4200 at high resoltions (1024x768+) and in some the 8500 even wins in low resoltions. by the way many tests for the 8500 are not reliable as they use older drivers and show huge decreases in performance.

so what's your idea !

Thank you for realizing, at last, that the Radeon 8500 is great...especially with 6094 (or whatever it is, I'm no ATi user yet). Let's just hope that the Radeon 10000 will beat up the NV30...

the radeon 8500 is crap. waste of my money, time and effort. i should have just waited another couple of months and bought the GF4 4400 for the same price. instead i have to save up again to buy the 4400 :|
ATI will always be second in the graphics market with their shite cards and even worse drivers!

i have seen both the 8500 and 4600 playing GTA3 , i can definitely say the 8500 has better quality with both having anisotropy and 2x antialiasing enabled. by the way the tv output feature of 8500 is still way better than 4600 in especially in the quality and smoothnes of the edges of the screen. I'm just wondering why ati has built their own tv output chipset (rage theater) but nvidia is using philips, conexant and ... which might not give the best compatability. Just forgot to say that i have read several places inclueing guru3d.com that nvidia has done tricks ( cheating ) with the Image quality to improve the performance and many of u know that nvidia is not that famous for image quality.guru3d

An ATI 8500 with mem clock of 308Mhz and GF3 544Mhz :o :o :o !!!!!!!!! . Impossible, the radeon 8500(retail) comes default clock of 550Mhz and the crappiest 8500LE is about 400Mhz.
I wonder you ight mean the DDR clock of (2 X 308) which makes your comparison unreasonable !!!!!

you probably have a driver issue because the 8500 is definetly better than the GF3

Yeah um, ok no. GF4 4400 same price? I think not.

Pricewatch:

GF4 4400 lowest price 225$
Radeon 8500 lowest price 99$

Granted that's probably an LE Radeon but still... the lowest retail is still probably lower than 225$

At the time of by purchase, the retail Radeon 8500 64MB was $250. That price you just stated is an LELELE card. Even the GF4 440 MX is better than that :\

it can never be better, the GeForce 4 MX is just a shitty DirectX 7 part, it will suck with Doom 3

first of all don't think that all the LE's are crap, some of them are, but an MX440 can never beat even the worst LE as said in the previous post.

there is an LE version of 8500 which uses the same memory that the retail ueses and it is default clocked at 275 X 2 which my friend bought it and I overcloked it to 300 x 2 = 600 with full staibility in all high resolutions, even without a ram heatsink and default core was 250 Mhz which can be easily changed to the retail clock as the main chips are all the same. He bought this card for $107 at pricewath INCLUDING shipping which is now even chipper.

but after all it's not worthed to buy a radeon 8500 right now because ATI is about to release the R300 chip and will kick the TI4600's ass ( TI4600 owners please calm down).
