My system;

Athlon XP 1800+
512 MB PC2100 DDR Ram
Jetway V266b MB
MSI GE4Ti4400
17GB Seagate H/D
Toshiba 16x DVD
Windows XP Pro
Fujitsu USB ADSL Modem
4 Port USB

Using Q3Bench I only get 161 fps in 1024x768 everything maxed out. I feel I should be getting over 200+ looking at other sites.

I get the same scores with sound disabled.


Any ideas?

There are several things you might want to check: first in you bios make sure that agp 4x is enabled, you might want to check and make sure that write combining is also enabled. I dont know what driver your using but you might want to try updating. I use v 30.82 with a TI4600.

Finally, dont worry too much about scores you see on the net ! alot are BS.

edit the config file of the quake 3 and put in max_fps="85" put max_fps="0"....

Those AMD optimized Quake 3 DLLs added about 60fps, I'd peak at around 140 during game play, now it averages 160 and i see 200fps all the time, never dropping below 120fps in a fire fight, when it used to get down to around 80. you could try those.

Where can I get the AMD optimised DLL's from?
