problems with windows explorer

well this morning i connected to the internet via dial-up and i tried opening internet explorer. i get an error report trying opening again and get pissed when i recieve another error and realise i must work on windows XP again. Well i restart and try again still receive error after error and then i try opening my c: drive i recieve the same error so i try opening my computer same error over and over again so i run norton virus scan it find 4 four viruses (crash4.exe=backdoor trojan, getadmin.exe=hacktool,sploit.bin=exploit virus, and GASYS.dll=hacktool) well i quarantined and deleted these files well then i tried opening internet explorer again and it opened amazingly so i figured well i fixed it. well about 20 minutes later i tried opening another internet explorer window so i could search 2 web pages and i got the error again well i figured whatever so i just surfed from one window. Well i closed that session of internet explorer then i opened kazza was messing around there then decided to open ie explorer again. well i got the error numerous times again. So i figured maybe i'll restart again so i restarted then tried opening internet explorer well it opened then i connected to the internet well i tried opening c: drive and i got the error again but when i disconnected from the internet i could open c: and my documents and all that but if i connected to the internet then tried opening IE explorer it will give me an error and an error on anything using windows explorer. i can open programs and everything else just not anything that resides on windows explorer. Is it possible that one of those viruses messed up something or is my internet messing it up. also i tried going back to a restore point and it still does it so i just undid the restore. i am using windows XP pro possibly corp. with SP1 installed . P4 1.6ghz, dvd and cd-rw,

tough luck

:o well, tough luck my friend...I suggest you install Win2000 or Linux so you won't have any more troubles, guaranteed. Always go with older and tested stuff, at least concerning computers. XP needs at least 2 more service packs to become usable, for me at least. btw, Win2000 and especially Linux flies on modern "beasts", why cluttering it with so much garbage like XP? What more do you get from XP that you can't get with Win2000? Everybody should read this and think about it. Many people whine about having problems like that, well, buy stuff that's at least 1 year old and you'll have much less problems, not none though, but less. New stuff is for those very experienced and with tough, trained nerves...

What did?

What EXACTLY did the message say?
Further,uninstall-install Norton(NAV/NIS),run LU untill fully up to date, run a full system scan. Now do a full system BU or fix a good restore point...

re:error in Explorer

Hey, have you tried to restart your Win XP in 'secure mode' (error proof mode) and to execute the norton AV? Try it.

Good luck.

RE: KaZaa

it's the KaZaa that's messing up your XP. uninstall it, and delete everything under it's directory. run MSCONFIG, Startup tab and look for an entry with BDExxx something and remove it. Also, disable/remove entried in the "Startup" tab which you are not sure of (trojans?)

good luck and mabuhay!
