Problem with short (8.3) vs long filenames. Win XP

Hi,
I was playing with the registry on my XP machine and found a setting that causes the OS to not store filenames in 8.3 format.
i.e. "LongFilename.doc" becomes "LONGFI~1.DOC" when accessed by a DOS program.

Now I have to run some old DOS apps which need to access these files and there are way too many to change by hand - also, it would break the proggys currently using them.

I had put all the changes into a text document somewhere on the machine and, as usual, can't find the the thing.

So, the question is: does anyone know the key I'm trying to reset? I've been scouring all the Registry tweaking guides and forums to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,
Paul

Tweak XP can change a lot of settings. And als that one..
So maybe when you install that, you can try to put registry back normal.
