Well atleast im not alone! I have degraded performance in UT in any drivers above 23.12s . Im running ut @ 1024x768 32bit, High texture detail and high model detail. dynamic lights on and marks on. My average fps is 96.xx on the flyby with those settings. My old creative geforce2 gts used to get the same scores. As soon as i install any drivers above that i get stuttering and hitching Big time!! The only tweaks i do is turn off antialiasing and vsync. At first i was disappointed with the new g3 until i tried other games and found that their performance increased very well. It seems maybe UT is way more cpu dependent than video card dependent frameratewise.

1.4 athlon 266
epox 8k3a+
384 meg crucial pc2100
visiontek geforce3 ti500 running 23.12 dets with rivatuner
viewsonic pf790 19"
sblive xgamer 5.1
via 4in1 4.38
winxp pro

No degaded performance here...

I have a Geforce 4 ti4600

However, I do get the normal windows cursor appearing in the game after i maximise it after windowing it... obviously the call to hide the pointer does not work in their code most of the time

I used 27.42 for a long time, and I play a lot of UT..........I d never have any problems.

I play with a modified OpenGL.DLL, textures installed by CD2 and play with 70-110fps

Asus K7V
Athlon 550@600Mhz
Geforce2 GTS V7700 Pure
256 Mb Pc133

You could might consider change the DLL

ut performance

That may be when using D3D, I only use OpenGL, soo much faster then D3D. And the 28.90 is the fastest OpenGL mode I have experianced with any detonators dating back to pre 12.xx. As a clan leader I need every FPS, I avg Max 130 Min 40 Avg 70-80 in play at 1024x768x16 with Med TExtures, on my ASUS V7100PRO MX-400 4x AGP on XP Pro. AMD Athlon Tbird 750 OC at 969MHz, ASUS A7V mobo rev 1.02 BIOS 1010, 512MB PC133

I dont know if this is slow for a Ti4600, but with a TB 1600 at 1280x960x32 nad the 28.90 dets I get average FPS 115 in the benchmark demo. max is about 210 fps and min 65 fps.

I also get very poor performance in UT and I have an athlon xp 1800+ and GeForce2 GTS. In 1024x768x32bit i get about 15-60 fps. In very large maps it sometimes goes down to 2 fps. I have used several detonators including 23.12, 26.53, 27.30, 28.35, and 28.80 and they all work slow in UT both in Direct3D and OpenGL mode.

First I thought my new computer sucked but maybe not. Anyway its very frustrating two play UT with 15 fps with stuttering. I also get stuttering in Medal of Honor. Cry

If you have UT stuttering independent from your drivers on decent hardware try DECREASING your agp aperture size in the bios should not be higher then 128mb. For me 32mb works best! At higher levels it kept crashing my system with newer games like jk2 or UT @ 32bit in d3d (UTs graphics quality in OGL sux big time btw).

No fps-change from dets 28.32 to 28.90 whatsoever. It is steady at 70fps avg 40fps min. I (only) measured (different) to-maps while playing 3.15 with 1024x768x32 4xfsaa and 1280x1024x32 quincunx-fsaa.

My system
Athlon XP2000+
MSI KT3-Ultra ARU mobo
512MB PC-266 CL2 RAM
Visiontek GeForce 4 TI4600
SB Audigy Gamer/Player
2xWD 60GB 7200rpm raid0
Inspire 5700 Digital 5.1 SoundSystem
WinMe

And a little spamming:

I

Its funny because all these people are talking about poor UT performance and I always find out they're using d3d. When was the last time d3d ran well in UT? Never! I've NEVER used d3d in UT because I know the performance sucks.

I can't rememeber where I read it, but someone posted that on a ti4600 and athlonxp 1800 they were only getting 60+fps at 1280x1024 and 90 at 1024x768. Well, I have a athlonxp 1700+ and gf4 ti4600 and get 92fps at 1280x1024x32 on the thunder demo using the high-res textures and s3tc with dynamic lights.

oh ya, in addition to my above statement, I get 115.15 at 1024x768. This is with 4x anisotropic using opengl.

So my point is, don't ever use d3d for UT.

Would someone please post how to run the thunder demo on U.T.?
It does not good to post my FPS unless we are all running the same demo benchmark.
If it's a DL then please post a link to get the demo bench!!!!
