Oh Mouse, where art thou?

Ive been stuck with an Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 for awhile, and been thinking about replacing it for something better.

Banned labels:
Microsoft 'quit the race' a year ago by removing their winning feature.
(See http://download.com.com/3302-2110_4-10226360.html for details).
Logitech doesnt support 'per-application' settings either.
Razer Boomslang have just 2 buttons... so even if they look cool, and probably runs great as well, 2 buttons are just not enough for me.
ThermalTake just produces 4 button cordless mice's.

Id like to ask if someone knows if there's any new mice that follows the following criteria:

* WITH cord (I f*cking hate batteries, and I rarely use bad language)
* 5+ buttons (counting the mousewheel)
* Optical
* Program-Specific Button Settings (http://jemym.no-ip.com/SpecificSettings.jpg)

As far as I heard, Logitech doesnt have the 'program-specific button setting" the Microsoft drivers had prior to 5.0....

I fought the "mouse wars" battle for many years and finally settled on a combination that works extremely well for me (obviously, your mileage may vary). Rather than screw around with multiple buttons on a mouse and having to be careful (because of my big fingers and the over-sensitivity of typical mouse buttons) about how I rest my hand on the rodent's torso, I bought a Logitech trackball and a Belkin Nostromo Speedpad n50. With this combo, I get the best of all possible worlds.

The trackball works best for me because a) I don't have to move IT around on my desk and b) it DOESN'T have overly sensitive buttons. It only has 2, actually, plus a scroll wheel/button combo (3 total). However, with the n50 I've got 10 buttons (keys) that are PER APPLICATION programable (along with another limited range scroll wheel and a high-hat type mini-mouse on the side). And I'm not talking about games here (it works with ANY application), although I do use it with some games.

With this combination I can create as many profiles for the n50 as I have applications I want to use it with and there is NO LIMIT to the number of profiles you might want to create. Yeah, it costs more (NewEgg has the n50 listed for $28 US at the moment) and Logitech trackballs aren't exactly free either. But, for me it's the perfect combination of features I've always wanted (and you'll NEVER find all that in ANY mouse).

Later.
