Re: Official Detonator 40.72 WHQL

Tried upgrading from 30.82 to the new 40s (on 98SE) and during the install get the following error 'NV4_DISP.INF missing'.

Have they left some file(s) out of the install package, not the first time nV have done this...

Performance comparison

Hi

Can someone tell me whether these drivers (40.72 WHQL)are worth installing over my 41.03 'beta' drivers for Win XP or keep with the beta ones ??

Thanks

Problems here too. Win 98SE. Had the *.inf missing as noticed above. Did another clean uninstall and then manual install. Didn't get the *.inf error message but did get nview.dll error messages.

Me thinks as noted already, stuff left out or wrong version stuff in 98SE install package?

for the one who dled it 4 times, dont use download managers, its a common problem with nvidias driver, just use IE.
and for the whql over the beta, dont...
not worth the bother

Just installed the 40.72 WHQL drivers for Win ME & got an error of missing file 'nv_disp.inf' & then it uninstalled itself, never encountered this prob before so went back to the 40.72 beta drivers again, did anyone else experienced this problem & is Nvidia aware of this problem & will be releasing a new version in next few days ??

Thanks

You may experience an issue with left over files going from the 30.xx series to the 40.xx series. The symptoms of this are not being able to access the GeForce control panel/Can't run DLL as an App error. Install the Det40.xx.fix.exe patch

works better than '40.72 beta' and 41.03
also, has good brightness.. just like 30.87 Big Grin
it needs that damned 40.xx fix, otherwise, using any 3x.xx will crap out the control panel

Degger: I followed the instructions exactly - removed my 30.87 Drivers from the control panel - run the 40xx fix - rebooted installed the 40 72's and still the same problem in the display/GeForce panel, when i click on the tab.. it just dissappears..! frustrating Cry

Lol how could they work better than 40.72 beta? It's the same exact driver, the only difference is that it's WHQL certified. I've been using these drivers for 1 month and they work just fine.
