Slower than 30.82 on older GF2 Adapters.

For those of you having problem with the screwed up control panel:
It doesn't matter if you had 3x.xx installed.
After you get the drivers up and running, run the fix, open the display properties and... ta-da!
(I suppoed those 'left over' files are in the 40.72 pack or something)

Well, the only reason I said those were better than 40.72 'beta' is that i don't see any weird artifacts or texturing problems in counter-strike anymore.

Whats wrong with all of you, I installed them fine,I upgraded from the lower versions onXP and i have 0 problems!!!

40.72 = Utter-crap. It messed up my system.
Now games lock up randomly.. As if I pressed the reset button. But it doesn't reset. I have to power it down.
Even going back to 30.87 didn't help. I'm going to do a clean install and keep it. No more 40.anything nor 41.xx until they sort out their crap.

Can anybody link me the fastes detonator drivers for ge force 2 mx.


I've downloaded the new 40.72 drivers for win me.And everytime i want to install it says:40 has caused an error in unknown hten I click close and then it says:This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.Please contact your system administrator.


Can anyone tell me step by step what to do to install it?

Same problem as others upgrading from 30.82 drivers. Uninstalled the drivers from the control panel. Run the 30.xx to 40.xx fix and installed 40.72 drivers with reboots between each step. But can't access the GeForce control panel - get a "Can't run DLL as an App" with nvcpl.dll error. I'm running XP SP1 and have a GeForce 3 card. When I uninstall the 30.82 drivers, some Microsoft Geforce 3 drivers are installed. I even forced the removal of these by deleting the appropriate inf files but same result. Given the 30.82 drivers were the latest drivers on Friday, won't a large number of users suffer from this problem and does anyone know if nVidia are planning to fix it?

Best Drivers for Geforce 2MX are official Detonator 23.11. I have used these drivers on a geforce 2mx and geforce 3 for a long time and I was happy with it! Newer drivers are optimized for newer cards. 30.xx and 40.xx drivers are optimized for Geforce 4 and will slowdown your card!

On 3d mark i had 1984 with 30.82 and 1758 with 23.11

anyone know why i have bad graphics in counterstrike with 40.72??

i don't think it's the same as beta. Cuz i was playin Soldier of Fortune 2 and MOHAA and with the 40.42 and 40.13 Dets i used to get flashing cloulds and walls in some levels, now with the WHQL that prob is gone :-D

Well I used Detenator Destroyer to remove any 30.xx and beyond Detenator driver files and installed v40.72 Certified drivers. Every game works with these drivers, runs smoothly, no issues. Even works with Multires for my refreshrates settings for D3D/OGL Desktop.
