Nvidia Geforce 2 ti - Problems

I recently had my Athlon 850 Mhz machine 'cleaned-up'. I had the hard drive re-formatted and had Windows 98se re-installed. I also decided to add a 3rd party (looking like a mistake) GeForce 2 ti (64 MB DDR RAM) to the system supposedly to 'greatly' enhance the performance of the machine. Well, I have had nothing but trouble since then. The main problem I am having is that the computer hangs on start-up at the Windows 98 screen. I can solve it by doing reset which takes me to safe mode and then restarting (sometimes 2 or 3 times). The biggest frustration I am having is Diablo II Lord of Destruction v 1.09d will not save the game anymore. Before I had no problem. I generally need at least a 1 hour Diablo fix daily.

What have I done so far ? I have downloaded and installed the most recent detonator drivers from Nvidia's web page to no effect. I have downloaded and installed the latest 4-in-1 drivers for my Epox motherboard. I have updated Windows 98se with the Windows updater. I just downloaded the 27.2 detonator drivers and wondering what will happen if I install these.

Basically, everyone on the net is talking about GeForce 3/4 and very little about 2 ti. I have been in contact with Blizzard and they are trying to help me. The vendor who sold me the card wants me to bring the computer back so he can do some troubleshooting. I really hope to fix the problem without lugging this big, heavy CPU back to the 'zoo' for troubleshooting.

I would appreciate any advice anyone might offer.

Thankyou
Scott

Did you remove the drivers from your previous card, and also check your directx version, got to run type dxdiag, the version will be listed near the bottom. I know you said that you did the Microsoft update, but it is still something you may check. As far as not being able to save your game in Diablo that should not have anything at all to do with your video card. I have nvidia cards in all my machines and one is an Athlon 850MHz, and never really had a problem with it. Also one other thing to note if your previous graphics was integrated on the board make sure you check the jumpers to disable it. Not sure if any of this helps, but hopefully something will work.

Followup

My last video card was an ELSA Erazor X^2 and I assume it was in the AGP slot, but I know next to nothing about system configuration. I appreciate your response.

Hi Scott,

I had not the same but simple the same problems here with my GfII Pro Card from Hercules.
My problem was, that the pc beeps loud at startup and than it hanged up and i had to reset the machine.
A bios update @ the board and on the card had helped me.
The problems you tell about sound for me like an compatiblity problem with the mobo and the card.

I would try bios updates, that can help
