The 31.80s are much better for OpenGL gaming ...

The 41.09s have nasty digital vibrance and are slow ...

CPU - AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz T-Bird processor
RAM - 512 MB PC133 SDRAM
OS - Windows ME
Tuner - RivaTuner
GPU - Visiontek Xtasy GeForce4 MX440 (280c/480m)
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-7ZX
3DMark2001 SE - 4968

My experience with the 41.09s sucked big time.
PC Specs: P4 2.4B GHz, Gigabyte 8IEXP, 768Mb DDR, GeForce4 Ti4200.

3D Mark 2001 SE Results:

40.52 Detonators = 10414
41.09 Detonators = 9354

More that 1000 3D Marks lost !! Based on my score, I'd say the 41.09s suck.

possible reason

Hello,

I may have a reason for all u people getting worse scores after updating to 41.09, most of the times u install new detonators the default quality settings will be restored (which is set for higher than medium) thus lowering ur scores.
Altho i am not sure about it but i think there are some new features in the driver designed for only the top cards.
Other reason could be that u run WinXP with only 128Mb and had NVdriver help service disabled before which uses quite some ram.

I recently bought a Aopen GF4 TI4200 128MB vivo and immediatly started benchmarking, my scores where 9673 with the included drivers (31.40) sumtin and "raised" to 10677 with 41.09, esp. on the nature bench it raised aprox 30fps

l8st score

yes when you install new drivers the OC settings are lost..So be carefull with that. For me 41.09 combine quality with speed. 9726 marks with an
MSI GF4Ti4200/64 (Athlonxp1700+256DDR2100) and nothing OC..This is a very good score for a Ti4200 (250/513)

Det/s

With the rig below (XP2000 O/C @ 1811/GF4 O/C @ 306/585) my 3D marks are as follows.

40.72: 10957
41.09: 12060*

*Using Via 4in1 4.45

as you can see the 41.09 are good for me, = the image quality is suburb!

Athlon XP 3200 @ 2305 (11.5 x 200)
Abit NF7-S V2.0 (Bios25/nForce 4.27/FW 65.73
2x512Mb Corsair XMS3200LL (10.3.3.2)
2x80Gb Maxtor SATA-150 (8Mb) 7200rpm (Raid0)

CJS.... I would look at your computer... Your score of 10414 with what you say is 40.52 drivers seems low for a P4 2.4 GHz... Although I am noticing that most of you people here only give final scores which seems ridiculous to me as we have no idea which tests people are running & if its set to high detail, low detail, anti aliasing on or off & if on what setting, anisotropic settings, Z buffer depth, ect, ect...

People!! Include all the info from 3DMark.. How can we make a comparison with nothing but a final score??? It is possible to add your scores to the net & then just provide us with a link... Final scores mean nothing if we can't see what's going on...

For instance here is a link to a 3DMark test I just ran...

A disturbing trend has emerged with the 4x.xx series of the Detonators...
As a new driver is released, the 3DMark performance is downgraded...
The 40.41s were somewhat amazing compaired to the 30.82s but when the 40.72s were released, 3DMarkers were somewhat disappointed as the driver docked a reasonable amount of 3DMarks off their previous score.
The 41.09 cut more 3DMarks but support DirectX 9, so it may be worth giving them a try with DirectX 9 and seeing how your 3DMark score increases or decreases.

Well I always thought the best way was to use DEFAULT settings for testing - which is the best way to make sure we all have the same benches.
