I've got a major problem with this driver. I've uninstalled my old before puting the 40.71 driver on. The only problem is that i can't go into the Nvidia Panel in the Display properties because I keep on getting a windows error saying can't run DLL as a program or somthing like that.

Really f**k'in annoying.

I ain't had any problems with other drivers only this one.

Had that problem on the last drivers Nvidia released.. Detonator Destroyers got rid of it for me.

i have a few serious problems using this driver:

1 dll not foudn when opening the display properties (i was able to fix that with a few reboots/reinstallations)

2 not working opengl mode under cs (gives me the error message that my gfx card has no opengl functions)

hardware:
ASUS Geforce2 GTS
AMD 1800+
Win2k SP2

no problems with the one and only 29.42 driverset Tongue

what about REAL WORLD benchmarks

I thought it was pretty much a given that the new 40.xx driver versions simply increased your 3d mark score while most real world games suffered a performance loss...

Anyone have non-3dmark benchmarks comparing the 30.85 to the newest versions?

Exactly the same thing that happened to me. Even when I uninstalled 40.71 and reinstalled 40.41 I ended up with exactly the same problem, the 40.41 drivers worked fine when I initially installed them.

The only way I could fix it all was to do a system restore to before I installed 40.71 and I was then able to access the Nvidia Panel options again.. I'm also using WinXP SP1.. Any ideas anyone?

Ok i'm not trying to be a smart-ass but i think that most of you are having problems because you guys aren't doing the setup correctly. Before you apply the 40.71 Detonators you have to go to Control Panel and do ADD OR REMOVE to uninstall the drivers and then Reboot the computer but this time you have to go into Safe Mode and install the new Detonators. I had the same problem as most of you guys did and eversince i've been doing this i haven't got no errors or problems. Hope this helps :-)

Run DLL as an APP

it appears most people with XP are getting this error, I personally know of 8 people who have the problem (all using different versions of XP, ie HOME, PRO, HOME SP1, PRO SP1 etc) and all have the same error, this surely cannot be a coincidence, we have all mailed Nvidia regarding it with (as of now), no response. I understand that the release is beta, but the same problem occured with 40:41 on all systems.

Also I have personally done a clean install of XP Pro with SP1 and used these new drivers from outset, and the error still occurs, so something is evidently very wrong with them Sad

RivaTuner2RC12 & Detonator40.71 Quadro

Try RivaTuner 2.0 RC12 it supports detonators 40.71. I patched mine and have my ASUS V7100PRO GeForce2 MX-400 installed as a Quadro2 MXR and have 30% increase in performance plus I get all the features of a Quadro. Smile

Applying all the patches to the driver before installing, and have the NVStrap (set to Force Quadro) driver installed and loaded. Then uninstall your old/current drivers, reboot, then install the 40.71 patched drivers.

(u have to manualy decompress the files like nv4_mini.sy_ at the Command Prompt in the C:\NVIDIA folder
expand nv4_mini.sy_ nv4_mini.sys )
