the processor isnt mobile either --> lower battery time, more noice and a warmer notebook

Well I don't think that Mobility 9000 Radeon is the best thing you could want for gaming...

For apps though the P4 is definately good...

Of course P4 is really good for gaming than Laptops. They are also fast.

Might not be an M, dell was among the makers who released some laptop models using a desktop chip.
It might be slightly faster, but battery life will take a big hit.
Laptops will never match the performance, nor have the GPU options available on a desktop.
What your paying a big premium for is easy portablity.
total cost of ownership will almost double over 3 years.
