monitor unknown problem in V8440 card

I have bought a new ASUS V8440 Geoforce 4 video card. I am running win xp as my operating system and my monitor is sony 17 SF2. Since win xp does not support sony 17" SF2. I have to use the driver I obtained from the sony site and the driver is not certified by Microsoft. However, The monitor is working fine with XP. After I installed the video driver, it appears to me that the my V8440 video card cannot detect my sony monitor. When I check the "info", it listed the monitor as "unknown". When I click other advanced option, it complained that my video card may not function well with some advanced features. I have reinstalled the monitor driver and also the video driver. It still cannot resolve the unknown monitor problem. I have tried it with a monitor which is certified by Microsoft. I have hooked up the video card with a Samsung monitor which is supported by winxp. But the video card still listed the monitor as unknown. I am not so sure how to resolve this unknown monitor problem. I was only able to run some of the advanced features using a program called powerstip which could identify my card and monitor.
