Monitor - standby or manual off?

Maybe it's an unusual question, but there it goes:

when you're gonna sleep, for example, is it better to set the (CRT) monitor to enter standby in Windows Power Settings or to manually turn the monitor off?

Thanks!

always set it off
because in standby ur monitor need electricity
so after one year in standby u will get a higher bill

so, if i won´t use my PC for 5 min and more i´m going to switch off my CRT....u should do that, too

most CRTs will have no real Power off
you can check this by looking at your monitor switch ... is it a REAL switch ... closing power connection or not ? is it just a button ... if its just a button its nearly equal if you let windows shut down the display or not ... if ya want real powersaving you always got to pull out the powercable .. most things still use power even if they are turned off ... maybe get a powersource with a switch so you can turn off speakers monitor printer and such thingswith one click

sorry, have to use google translation *smile*

not completely correctly the button interrupts the connection of the electricity and electricity lies ALWAYS on and is all the same it whether at plug socket or in the monitor and if the monitor is switched off, lies close to tension, but it used ,therefore u can also switch off with button

hope u understand what i mean

Just let it go in standby,
If you just press the button (not switch) its the same as stand by, stand by takes very little power.
