i have a 17inch KDS non working monitor. my brother was once messing with the pc hardware to change ram and stuff and he was switching the pc on and off a lot. when he tried to turn it on once it the only thing it did was for the green led on the monitor to keep flashing and just that. i think that it`s probably fried but what do you think?

step 1: try plugging the monitor into a different known-working computer. If it doesn't work the first time try different cables. If it works ignore step 2.

Step2: if the monitor is under warranty find all of the necessary stuff to get a RMA from the manufacturer. Contact them by telephone if possible (eliminates confusion) and tell them it just quit working and you want it replaced. Don't mention ANYTHING else other than you went to turn it on and it wasn't working. Be persistent and you will eventually get a replacement if under warranty. Good luck and get another brother (those don't have warrantys)...

Some monitors have a switch on front or back called an INPUT SELECTOR.

Sometimes if this is on 2 then it's getting power but thinking that you have two monitors.

Check on the front, side, back anywhere or read in book or look on internet to see if this may be the case... It could just be the input selection switch. Switch to 1 and see if it works if not switch it to 2 or vice versa.

It could also be that you have a loose RAM stick try re-seating all your PCI and AGP, and RAM modules making sure they are secure - another thing you can do is clean the contacts with a pencil eraser but only do this gently to not knock off the contacts then re-seat them.

well its not the computers fault for sure because i have another monitor on it working just fine. there isn't any input switch or anything other on monitor either. i noticed that there are some pins missing from the part that the cable where it connects with graphics card but i dont think thats the problem because it was like that when it was working as well. i sent a message to the companies support team and if i ever get my lazy ass off the chair i might go to my neighberhood technician and see if he can do anything about it.
