Messed up Resolutions

For the longest time, I have been able to set my resolution up to 1280x1024 on my monitor. Today, for some reason, I can only set my resolution up to 1024x768. Normally, I use 1280x960, so this really pisses me off. Anyone know why it would do this ? BTW, it affects my desktop and all my programs. The screen now garbles at anything over 1024x768.

Try changing your monitors to "Plug and Play Monitor" it looks like your monitor driver is reporting that it can only run at 1024x768 max.

Also if you've changed Det's recently, sometimes NVidia mess with the supported resolutions, you might want to try a different version. I think if you're running dual monitors off the 1 video card it limits your res as well, but if you've always run 2 monitors (or you're only using 1)at the higher res that isnt a problem.

I changed my drivers the first day the 29.80 drivers came out. I have not changed them since then. I only have the one monitor and, until this morning, it had the same 640x480 to 1280x1024 resolution choices since I got my computer. This morning, I turn on my computer and my res is set to 640x480x8, which was extremely odd. So I went to go change my colour depth and resolution, and I only had 4 choices and only up to 1024x768.

I downloaded it, but it didn't do anything. Anybody else have any ideas as to why this shit would happen and how I would go about fixing it ?

Connect your desktop monitor to a laptop ... see if it is a problem with your monitor itself.

Did you try the suggestion of changing your monitor driver to "Plug & Play"?

This usually fixes the problem. Alternatively, download the driver for your specific monitor brand/model. (I never bother)

Reformat? What are you smoking? Go to the control panel, click on display, then settings, then advanced, then monitor. Now you sould see box that says 'Hide modes that this monitor can not display' and uncheck the box. It will let you get higher refresh rates than your monitor can handle so be carefull because I wont take any responsibility if your monitor fries. Hope this helps.
