Liteon 48x12x48x V308 Firmware problems

hey guys,

has anyone heard about any incompatibilities or bugs within the 48x12x48x liteon drive? as I've been getting some poor hard drive performance when my new liteon is connected. I returned the first one I had because I thought it was something to do with the drive but after two replacements I'm sure it's the drive.

I formatted and put a fresh install of WinXP with all updates on but the problem still exists.

All it really does is slow down the data flow of my hd's (as checked within Sisoft Sandra) but still it's a pain.

Are you running the cdrw on the same chain as your hd ??
The liteon is an udma 2 device and if your hd is udma 5 (ata100) the liteon will bring it down to udma 2 speeds.
All devices must be udma 4(ata66) or higher on the same chain to use said modes eg: ata66 ata100 ata133.

Well I'd need a bit more info about your set up eg:mobo, raid controller, chipset,hd's etc. to give any more specific advice.
Generally I'd check the ide cable or replace it
Check the pci latency timer set to 32 or 64
Check the bios for udma modes enabled and 32 bit access enabled.
