Linux Distro

I currently have a small network of 2 pc's both running win2k. Recently I got a K62 350MHz processor and motherboard. It has an AGP slot and runs SDRAM and I have an extra 256 SDRAM Chip ram lying around. My current network does not include any hubs or switches just a UTP Cat 5 cable from 1 pc to the other. On the K62 box I want to install 1 of the latest versions of Linux, preferably Red Hat 7.3. Is it a prob because it is an old pc? what hub or switch do you recommend? and do you know of any good tutorials for networking between linux and win2k? I think practicallynetworked.com should have something but I didn't check yet
