jv16 PowerTools 2005 released - Updated

http://www.macecraft.com/news/68/

Quote:
HELSINKI, FINLAND -- February 23, 2005 -- Macecraft Software, a leading provider of Windows registry and maintenance utilities, today announced the newest version of the acclaimed jv16 PowerTools PC utility product.

jv16 PowerTools is a complete toolkit to maximize the performance of any PC. With a user base comprising several million downloads, the program is used by both home and power users as well helpdesk and support personnel around the globe.

jv16 PowerTools allows users to remove all traces of previously uninstalled software, to clean the computer's Windows registry for optimal performance and stability, and to fix many registry-based problems with a single mouse click. The ultra-streamlined multilingual user interface allows the software to be used in all major languages, while automatic backup and safety features make the program very safe to use.

”Macecraft products are not packed with flashy graphics or elaborate user interfaces – only the most powerful range of no-nonsense PC tools on the market. The new jv16 PowerTools 2005 offers a host of exciting new capabilities, while bringing the product to an ever larger audience of home and casual PC users,” said Jouni Vuorio, Lead Developer, Macecraft Software.

jv16 PowerTools 2005 is available immediately. A normal license for new users is priced at $29.95. Upgrade licenses for current license owners of jv16 PowerTools version 1.4.x are available for $5.95.

New features in jv16 PowerTools 2005 include:

* AI (Artificial Intelligence) improved search features and Registry Cleaner
* Downloadable on-the-fly updates to the Registry Cleaner engine that further increase the security of the product
* Expanded registry search options
* History/Most Recently Used Cleaner allows unwanted history items of many common applications to be flushed
* History Manager lets users control which web browser history items are stored on the computer, or to clear them all
* Cookie Manager helps organize cookies and automatically removes unwanted cookies
* File Cleaner function now finds many new unused files, including unused fonts

jv16 PowerTools 2005 can be purchased from the Macecraft Software web site at http://www.macecraft.com or from selected distributors worldwide. A fully functional 30-day trial version can also be downloaded free of charge at http://www.macecraft.com.

Warning:

Do not use the deep mode without knowing exactly what you do ... it is very very likely to remove important stuff like the CLID for Microsoft Devicemanager SnapIn console.
1.4 is the far better choice then this beta product!

Has anyone tried out the demo?

The "registry cleaner" runs much slower than the 1.4.1 (I thought it freezes, but it is still running (kinda) taking up all the CPU cycles), and there are some memory leak issues ... the "result" graph does not make sense? I get 0/100, and it only caught 10 errors total in all 3 categories, using Normal scan.

Anyway, I have uninstalled it for now.

I only used jv16 1.4 as regcleaner since I do not find any other good one

but the 2005 series does not work at all here

the reg cleaner starts fast and after half the registry scanned it does slow down like hell after 30min I forcefully aborted scan

the "network feature" disables itselfe sometimes ...

kinda buggy release

08.03.2005 - Minor update to jv16 PowerTools 2005

A minor update released for jv16 PowerTools 2005. The updated version 1.5.0.275 contains the following changes.

* The Duplicate Finder sometimes grouped the files in a wrong way, for example files of 3 KB could be in a group of 2 KB files. All the found files were still duplicates, the problem was only in the user interface
* Password protection feature didn't work with certain types of passwords, it didn't let users to enter even with the correct password
* The "Always ask me for a description" backup mode didn't work, instead asking the user it automatically generated the backup's description
* The Registry Manager didn't open as maximized even if it was maximized when you closed it, this bug is now fixed
* Added minor safety improvements to the Registry Cleaner engine
* Some translations have been updated

Some users have asked why certain features of the old jv16 PowerTools 1.4.1 are not included in the jv16 PowerTools 2005 (such as the age system and the Show entries in the Registry Manager). The reason was simply staying on the schedule, almost all of the few missing features, plus tons more, will be included to the jv16 PowerTools 2005 in the future. The updates will be free for the product's licensed users.

29.04.2005 - jv16 PowerTools 2005 updated

An updated version of jv16 PowerTools 2005 released, it contains the following improvements.

* Fixed a bug that caused the product to crash when updating its file cache. The bug only affects certain system configurations, particularly systems with more than 10 hard drives or partitions.
* Fixed a bug causing the product to hang when starting the registry scan. Also this problem only affected certain system configurations.
* Added support for window resizing to the following tools: History/MRU Cleaner, Cookie manager and History manager. Other windows are updated to support resizing in the future.
* Added the following translations: Galician, Hebrew, Korean, Norwegian, Spanish and Ukrainian. The complete list of supported languages can be found from here.
* Improved the product's handling of registry dates. The jv16 PowerTools has always shown the date from the registry the way it is stored in there. However, the date is in fact in GMT+0 format and thus if you live in other time zone the product has always shown the registry dates a bit wrong.
* Fixed a bug in the Registry Find and Replace tool that prevented it from modifying REG_MULTI_SZ type of registry data.
* Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the Custom Restore feature not to work properly.
* Fixed a minor interface bug that caused removed items not to be removed from the list of the Duplicate Finder. The bug only affected the user interface, the removal of the selected files worked as expected
* Fixed a minor bug that caused the Registry Cleaner's Fixing feature sometime to leave the very last of the selected items untouched.

The updated version can be installed over any previous versions of jv16 PowerTools 2005.

The new version can be downloaded from our download page.

We are currently also working on with an update to the jv16 PowerTools 2005 which contains many new features and other such improvements. The update will, of course, be free for the current license owners of the product. A release date with information about the new features will be released in the future.
