HP DVD Burner question

I just got my hand on an HP dvd burner 200i. When i boot it takes seriously 5 min to get it all the way into windows though, has anyone else have this kind of issue? Or does anyone have any imput...it currently a slave drive whereas my cd-rw/dvd player is the master...im also running daemon tools virtual drive so its c: d: = cd-rw/dvd e: = daemon e: = dvdrw. TY Big Grin

hmm a optical drive must work without drivers ....
I mean I have some strange thing like this, too
I have 3 SATA and 1 PATA drive
when I only had PATA the blue bar at windows startup got round 1 to 2 times ....
with sata RAID its 0.75 to 1 time
but when I connect the PATA with the other SATA devices the blue bar goes through at least 4 times idling ... even if the HDD is formated and empty ...

Adjust the boot order, clear the prefetch folder. Good luck.

K im having a little better luck...since i have SATA HD i put the burner on primary IDE channel as cable select...i put my other drive as master on secondary...seemed to boot fine. But when i go to my comp. and stick a cd in the drive...it gives me some sort of IO error :-? . Another thing is, is i got this from someone..its still bran new..but he didnt have the install cd....you think i need that cd and maybe it will work better? I hope so cause i ordered one online for 9.95, because i did find out that there is a firmware update for that drive too....but it wont update without that original cd...anyways...anyone have any other ideas they would like to share?

Is some of the pins behind the drive missing? This might cause I/O error.

huh ? cable select ??
thats the worst thing you could do ... set it to master or slave and try again .... NEVER use cable select
