how do i unlock the bios in a compaq motherboard

does anyone know how i can unlock the bios with a compaq motherboard. it is a compaq motherboard not just a motherboard in a compaq computer. they manufactured it so i can't flash the rom. atleast i don't think i can. i looked but couldn't find any file like that. can someone please help me out i want to overclock my P4

Sorry...compaq no win scenario

Hey there,

Sorry to break it to you but the bios thing with compaqs is something
that cannot be undone with a bios flash. Compaqs make sure nothing
is changeable because they assume the people who buy their computers
don't know anything about computers. Hence the reason why people buy
their computers because they don't know anything about computers.
If they did they wouldn't buy them Smile. I made that mistake once.
Remedied it by giving it away and making my own comp. I will say this
though. On some older compaqs like about 3 years ago you could
actually get a bios image and flash it to get rid of the compaq stuff.
Unfortunately, compaq got smart and uses custom made boards and
bioses for the cheap comps. Sorry to give bad news. Unless you can
find a program that will override the bios then you are out of luck. Of
course that is unless you are a great programmer. Honestly, if you want
to overclock get a custom system. Compaqs are unreliable as they are,
so overclocking them is asking for trouble. My 2 cents.
