Gigabyte nForce3 Mobo's - Which One?

Ok buying a mobo that supports AGP and wired it down to the Gigabyte but theres 3 of em(?)

1. GA-K8NS Pro-939

2. GA-K8NS Ultra-939

3. GA-K8NSNXP-939

Here's a comparison chart on the Gibabyte site: http://www.giga-byte.com/Products/mother...,1839,1788

As you can no doubt see, there's nothing really between them but there must be something.
I tried seaching for some time for performance comparisons or what is it those these 3 differ in. I just want the best out of the 3 really and thats it!

Hoping someone can shed some light. Thanks in advance!

normaly there is a difference of ZERO in performance

the biggest difference are the goodies

in this point i would go for GA-K8NSNXP-939
because:

Dual LAN solution with Gigabit LAN solution integrated
GIGABYTE unique Dual Power System Gold (DPS-Gold) design

if it´s too expensive go for GA-K8NS Ultra-939 and then to GA-K8NS Pro-939

those do use the older nF3 chipset

you may also consider getting a mobo with K8T800 chipset from VIA

I personally do own an ABIT AV8 3rd-Eye, K8T800 Pro

I did choose this one because at the time I bought it there were very few good motherboards avail.
performance wise the K8T800 is a bit behind the nF4
BUT
I have to say that I have no problem giving 1-2% performance for the comfort that comes with the chipset
1. is cool ... I mean really cool .... there are passiv solutions for nF, too but those do kinda work at their limit
2. its much more trouble free - this is due to the fact that unlike nForce (and like good old times) you do not HAVE to install a driver for it.
What you need is a driver for the SATA RAID controller for sure and for the gigabit ethernet controller on board.
but the rest does work very well without any driver

and for over a year now I can report no problems of any kind

You might take that into consideration

The only real negative point about the VIA chipset is that the 8237 got only 2 SATA connectors and very few motherboards use the newer 8251 which features 4 SATA connectors

but despite this I can fully recommend the motherboard I use

Well, I did decide on the GA-K8NSNXP-939 but can't find it to buy lol.

I've looked all over the place but nobody sells them...

Might have to go for the Abit after all although I did prefer a nForce3 Ultra based mobo.

Can anyone find it please

No AGP on that one Biene. If only there was an NF4 with AGP slot. There are some board with XPG but I dont know how reliable that is...

Either way another last option is the DFI LanParty NF3 Ultra-D. The LAST EVER NF3 Ultra board to come, or to actually think of it, the last ever NF3 board to come out. Seems pretty good :hmm:

Hi
its your lucky day Smile

I just upgraded from my K8NSNXP to an Asus NF4 board so mine is up for grabs.
It works perfectly but I dont have much of the stuff from the box. I
I have the original CD and will throw in some new cables including 2 SATA.

Its performance was very good allow me to get 2.7GHz with a Venice 3000+ chip.
The Bus tops out quite high at 311MHz.

Yours for £25 + delivery
