GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 8500 AP64D PROBLEMS

Dear Fellow Members,

I have just purchased a GIGABYTE ATI RADEON 8500 AP64D and when I procured it I burned it in to make sure that it was stable. When I tried to overclock the sucker I couldn't even get more than 10 mhz out of the memory or gpu. I expected a much better overclock speed due to the massive heat sinks and fan's around the card here is a picture of it. Well, anyway I have good cooling inside my case and everything. Could I have a bad card? Or is it something else I am doing wrong? Please help!

-KR

By the way I am using powerstrip and the default v-tuner as overclocking programs!

I think it's because the bios version of the card ....
All gigabyte's latest cards ship with the 7006 bios ...
And someone did a test sometime a go with all the available bios...and found out that 7006 bios was the less overclockable bios because of the really aggresive memory timings of the bios...explaining the higher score than other cards... the highest he could reach with the 7006 bios was 275 mhz ... Search rage3d forums for the test summary.

GIGABYTE 8500

Thanks for your help but are you suggesting that I should go back to their old bios for better overclocking prowess?

Re: GIGABYTE 8500

Hi kroy I am sure you had a bad card cos mine can be overclocked to 310/310 engine/memory for a month now.
