GeForce4 ti4400 problems.

I am so frustrated, I just bought an abit siluro ti4400 for my machine, and after installing their drivers, everything works BUT 3d!

Unreal Tournament, Serious Sam 1 and 2, Quake 3 team arena, any game that uses 3D acceleration crashes me to the desktop.

I have tried installing the newest detonator drivers, 28.32 and .35 and tons of older releases, nothing seems to work! What the hell is going on?

My System:
AMD Athlon 1900+ xp
Abit KG7-Raid
512mb DDR Ram
Soundblaster Audigy
Windows XP

I've got a leadtek GF4 ti4400 and i got the same problems
I've tried several drivers 28.32/28.35 and the ones that came with the card, I'm suspecting it's a directX thing but i'm not sure yet
If a solution should arise i will post here

system:
EPOX 8kta-3 pro
AMD athlon XP 1600+
512 Mb memory
SB Live

i'll join in by saying that i bought a Gainward Geoforce 4 Ti4400 Golden sample lately, and i got that problem too. even with new detonators.

well, its not exactly like yours, my games work, all games except direct3d games...
so Serious Sam, quake 3, Jedi knight2 (use openGL) work..

but when i try windows Xp Plus! screensavers they say that there's no compaticble direct3d device found...

i have then ran DxDiag and tested direct3d, and i really had a problem with Dx8 using direct3d (dx7 test went ok!)...

im not sure if i should reinstall DX8..

Zenomorph, what OS did you have? since i have XP, and to uninstall directx i had to format and reinstall windows.

Just after i installed ONLY the gainward geforce4 drivers (28.32), i ran DxDiag, and all direct3d tests were ok!

then i wanted to install the software that came with the card, ExperTool.
After the installation, everything was messed up again, and i couldnt do anything to fix it..

i think that gainward have a problem in that app!

AGP Driving values

I e-mailed abit and they recommended me to change the AGP driving values in the bios to see if I can increase stability, I think I'll give that a try and see how it turns out.

i have win XP only and it happened to me when i had the 23.11 drivers so far after a reinstall no problems like that happened again now i have the new drivers 28.32 i keep a habit now to only run the offical released drivers

still no problem if ya run dxdiag and only the dx7 test runs then nothing then dx8 d3d are gone and you will have to reinstall seeing microwank in all there wisdom aint released a dx8.1 for win xp users this would save on less head ache in the end

hope this helps in one way and when ya use any tools for tweeking or anything else make sure they are safe for dx8.1

Goddamnit it all to hell

Damn it all, I have tried changing the AGP driving controls, don't work. I clean installed windows XP and all drivers, the damned video card is still crashing my computer left and right. But now I have another idea, maybe it's an IRQ conflict problem! But I have to disable my motherboard's ACPI support and reinstall windows XP in standard PC mode. Has anyone done this and found it worked? I have noticed that I have almost 10 devices all sharing the same IRQ as my videocard, I know this should be OK, but you never know.

IRQ

VISIONTEK RECOMMENDS IRQ11 WITH NOTHING ELSE SHARING OTHER THAN ACPI TO BRIDGE STEERING(OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT). I RUN A TI500 AND IT IS MORE STABLE ON MY SYSTEM IN IRQ11. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU ALL. Big Grin

Actually...

My video card is on IRQ 11. Problem is, there are currently 7 other devices using IRQ 11, my sound card, 2 usb hub controllers, etc. And there's no way I can change the IRQ settings manually unless I reinstall windows XP and change settings in BIOS>

I have the exact same prob. as caleb. Direct3D just can't run!

I have ACPI disabled and GFX card runs on IRQ 11 with no other devices.

BTW, I have a Leadtek Winfast A250 Ultra TD (GeForce4 Ti 4600)
