GeForce4 Ti 4400 Game one high detaial in 3DMark doesnt work

I have a MSI limited edition VIA KT133 chipset motherbaord with an Athlonxp1600 and a sound blaster audigy. The OS is XP home. The problem with the graphics card is that I can't use any tweak utility, they show its new clock speeds but it doesnt change performance. also when I try to run 3DMark 2001 SE once the benchmark gets to the high detail test of game one the screen turns any number of colors with black dots. All other tests do work with 3DMark. But ofcourse I can't get a score.I have exchange the card asuming it was faulty and the same thing happens.

GF4 problem

have you tryed then newest drivers from here like the 29.40's, if that doesnt work, try turning off wait for vertical sync, i had probs in CS untill i turned that off, if that still doesnt work look for dets(dentenator drivers from the manufactuer of your card,

yes i have an asus driver v29.40. all other system drivers are up to dateas well as the BIOS. I have tried other drivers from Asus and Nvidia all of which yield the same result. The vertical sync is already disabled.

Yes I have had it all along. I actually had exchanged the card believing it was defective since I hve had other graphics cards in there that worked fine.(Asus GeForce2 Ti Pure / ATI Radeon 8500 125MB LE) The first card though I was able to run the entire 3DMark2001 benchmark but the tweak utility didn't work. It just did the wierd color with black dots thing. Now with this new card 3DMark doesn't work at, well ya know. It has me stumped although... with the Radeon card there was an issue. Ihad bought the Crystal Orb Chipset cooler and ram sinks. I went to turn on my PC and the MSI logo screen was all sketchy and screwy, the fan wasn't spinng either. after fixing that the card was showing only 64MB of ram and was showing poor benchmark results. Now there is these problems with this Asus GeForce4 card. Maybe its a Motherboard or hardware problem from the Radeon card.

hmmm sounds like some faulty hardware

i remeber buying a sound lbaster live audigy the day they came out nothin but staic, as for video i have geforce 4 4600 ti 128 mb i dont use any ram sinks, and i have 1.5 gigs of drr 333, i have quick silver cooler on my cpu, and a crystal orb fan for my video, i have a amd athalon xp 2.5 ghz, the the mother board is a Asus A7S333 mobo, the only prob i can see is if the mobo is out of date and cant handle the video card or if thiers some thin in the bios you have to change,

Ya know what I'm pretty sure your right. Kinda of, I had it look at by a tech and his conclusion was that the mothrboard was suppyling enough amperage to the graphics card the voltage was there but thats it. After some research he found that the piticular mobo i have supplies a lower amperage to everything (CPU,RAM,Video) compared to newer mobo. he did get it to work once though, what he did was use a 360 watt power supply when he reinstalled windows and every test work well, even the FPS from what i saw were higher(slightly). Now after he switch power supplies back to mine it was back to the same old problem. He once agian switched back to the 360 watt supply and oddly it didnt work again. so Im motherbaord shopping. Im choosing between MSI KT333ARU or an Asus KT333 without raid. If you have a recomadation please state your opinion.
Thank You,

Reduce ure AGP setting to 1x in the bios, VIA+Athlons and the agp bus suck if its on 2x or 4x, that prob will fix it.

1. Download NVcleaner from here http://www.guru3d.com/files/ and the driver you are going to use, Nvidia just released a WHQL certified driver today ver. 29.42
2. Boot into safe mode, F8
3. Uninstall the VGA adapter, any and all, dont worry, on next boot it will force XP to install the card that's there. Reboot
When you reboot cancel out of the hardware wizard, do not install or let windows install the drivers.
4. Open Nvcleaner and hit Clean, hit okay, you will see an error page "could not delete these files, don't worry, your not worried about cleaning the C:/windows files, you just cleaned your registry.
5.Right click my computer/Hardware/Device Manager, you should see the VGA adapter with the exclamation!, update the driver to the new one, VGA Adapter/Have Disk/Location of driver. Word of note: dont worry about not seeing the GF4 card in the window that has a list of video cards, don't double click on any of them, just hit have disk... reboot
6. Go into bios AGP Aperture set to 256, disable fastwrites to be safe until you think your stable, then test it out.

If nothing else now you know how to do a clean driver install , but hopefully your registry is just clutterd with NV files and this will clean them out, in turn not creating any conflicts between XP and the AGP adapter.......

i had the same 3D MArk 2001 SE game one high detail problem.im using radeon 8500 athlon xp 1900 asus A7V333 and XP home.

our cards are different so it can't be the problem.XP home can have a bug or any problem with athlon XP.

I changed the resolution to 800*600 and i had no problem. But this is not a solution of course.....
