I just bought visiontek's G4 4600. When I run a game,after a little bit,the screen goes black and my monitors light goes yellow(stand-by)and i cant do anything,I am forced to restart my pc. This does not happen in windows,only on games..

Anyone else have this prob? How do I fix it? I have installed all the drivers,27.42,that came with it and the 27.50,both do the same thing. I can play the game for 20min or so and then it happens. Is this the refresh problem everyones been talking about? or something different?

What card did you use before? If it wasn't one from Nvidia you might have driver artifacts within your system. Have you tried to delete the "PCI-bus/bridge" (forcing windows to detect components again)?

I had a Geforce 3 ti 500 before

The same thing keeps happening to me, and I thought it was the card. I have a PNY GF4 Ti4600, and only when I play C&C Renegade, the screen goes blank, the yellow light turns on, and I have to restart my computer. :x I really don't know why it happens, but reinstalling the game seems to help. I thought I was the only one with this problem!

Hey,so does it do it anymore??? What drivers are you using? Also,does it seem to only happen on d3d games?? I ran wolfensteing for a while and it worked perfectly,but the second i put the Wolf tech demo,BAM,the screen goes blank and on comes that yellow light and its restart time.

I also got an error message,i cant remember it (if i get it again,i'll post it) that says something like it had problems drawing the graphics or something like that...

Please try and run that wolf tech demo for a few minutes and see if that happens,please post again!!

Right now I am using the Nvidia Dets 28.32 (maybe I'll try the Visiontek drivers later) together with Nvmax 3.00.74 and WITHOUT Nview.

I ran some of the demos like tornado and the wolfman (aren't those OpenGL) for quite some time (about 30min each) without problems but can't open movie-files after closing them (mpeg/divx).

Any ideas?

I've since reinstalled my system to factory spec, and I haven't had the problem since. I'm using 28.32 drivers. By the way, before reformatting, I tried to duplicate the problem with my on-board graphics (n-force), and it happened again! So it wasn't the ti4600 to blame I guess? :roll:

I did a total format of my harddrive and reinstalled the 28.32 drivers,the problem still happens. I ran the wolf demo on my old g3 ti 500,and this problem didnt happen.

The wolf demo is d3d,you can turn the nvidia symbol on for all d3d apps.

any ideas? is it a defaulty card?

I would exchange it for a new card, and reformat again before installing the new card. But that's just me, because I schedule regular reformatting of my system (constantly installing, uninstalling programs ) Unless someone else reading can come up with a better solution, I always take the safe route :wink:

I (we) have sold several of these cards or build systems (thats what I do for a living )with them and none showed your specific problem. The only faulty card I've seen so far had damaged ram but maybe in your case...

You never mentioned what mobo you have.
Epox mainboards are known to have trouble with the GF4-series and there might be others.

I got the same problem. Anyone out there with an effective fix? I've tried reformatting the HD, changing drivers from 27.42 to 27.52 and then 28.32 and I couldn't get the 3DMark2001SE to finish. The monitor will go blank into sleep mode and i'll to restart. Same in games.

My last try to post crashed my ie so I'll make it short.

Do NOT use nvmax with geforce4 it might cause drivertrouble.

Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2 don't run with my GeForce4 :x but played fine with my old GeForce3. Patching didn't help. NEED HELP!

I just bought an Asus 8460 Ultra ... Damn !!!
I have the same problem. I changed the card cause I thought it was faulty , but still.
I play Aquamark , then the screen goes blank , the Monitor is like on standby , and then the Computer Resets !!!!
I don't know what to do , I have reformatted 3 times , changed drivers , changed games , doesn't work !!!
Any Ideas ???
