whats with the grayed out thing you cant select in the installation?
and one thing... WTF cany tou keep your settings and extensions?
makes no sense you have to make such drastic configurations every time you upgrade firefox... atleast opera keeps your settings, skins and plugins when you upgrade.
firefox up my arse Tongue

hmmm you must have done something wrong ...

when you stat Firefox with the -p command you come to the profile manager ... there you can set you profile directory and ANY setting is saved inside this folder ... as long as you keep it you do not need to reset anything ... on upgrading

but since 0.9 is MUCH different to 0.8 it is HIGHLY recommended to do a fresh install ... delete your Mozilla directory and create a new profile ...
to keep bookmarks and settings

goto you old preferences directory and copy over
cookies.txt cookperm.txt
key3.db signons.txt
bookmarks.html
and
prefs.js

voila you have all saved passwords and thing in ya new installation ...
I also did not keep the prefs.js to obtain max stability with new settings ...

whats new?
one of the coolest thing is EM and TM for sure
but also very very cool ...
you can now deactivate "change or disable context menu" in javascript options ... and it works !!!
very cool
worth the dl ... finally you can also deinstall extensions !!!

Only bad thing about the 0.9 release, imo, is the new theme.. It might work great for mac or linux, but in windows the Qute theme looked much sleeker and nicer Smile

Oh well, you can always change it Wink

edit: Here is where you can get the "old" theme : http://www.quadrone.org/graphics/

lol
I do agree iFirefox takes less memory footprint than IE, its a bit hard to quote the size of a web page though. It could be 1GB if there are enough pictures etc and thats not dependant on the browser (unless you prevent piccys from downloading Wink)

I like Firefox very much and use it for nearly everything. Its not up to the task of handling IRC links as found on http://www.packetnews.com and other IRC sites.
For example, if you click on a link to a file, IE will open your IRC app and then open the channel the file is resident on. In your paste buffer is placed the bot downloading instructions for you to paste in the chat window to initiate the request for the file.

Using Firefox, IRC and the channel open but the paste buffer isnt populated. So for IRC I still use IE but the Tabbed browsing in Firefox is just brilliant.

not true ... it uses quite high memory ~40 single and with 10 webpages ~50
but this is much based on the webpages and for sure what extensions and other shit you installed ...
and btw ... who cares about 30 meg of ram ?

edit .. you can open much more then 10 webpages in 60MB ... btw flash is using quite much ram ...
in idle FF uses 17 MB here
