easy ... get winXP and assign your power button to shutdowsn ... thats it

If you don't have a power button on your keyboard, get a program like ActiveShutdown:

It's freeware and lets you assign shutdown/reboot to either a key combo or an icon on your desktop or Systray.

use the keyboard and hit the break on your surge protector, that would be the fastest way

I know this works on XP and 2000, you can give it a try on the others, alt+F4, will close open windows one at a time, if there are no open windows it shuts down windows.
