Try lowering your ram speed- I don't know about that board, but can you lower it to 266?
I had the same problem on my P4 2.4b, had 512mb of ddr at 266 and OS installs were dying randomly. Replaced the ram and bingo it's fine.

isn't....your WinXP CD fucked up?

Just install Win2k...if it doesn't, replace your RAM

BTW a 360W Power Suply is just fine. Mi XP1800 is running on a 300W and it rocks.

Bad CDROM Drive? - Have you tried the CDROM from your P4??

Try installing without soundcard, nic etc, just use your agp card by itself.

Try setting less aggresive memory timings in your BIOS:

Top Performance: Disabled
SDRAM Cas Latency: 2.5
SDRAM Command Rate: 2T

and work your way up from there

What nanosencond rating are the chips on the memory module? if they are -06 then they probably wont go much more aggresively at 166Mhz than this.

BTW, if you have ME install that instead, its better for home user playing games etc..

If you cant live with ME use 98SE.

iv tryed,

iv tryed it but my comp likes to restart itself periodacly, iv used the 4in1's and the update for the proccesser, my mem settings are CAS 2.5 other then thats its defualted to its origanl setting, for stabiltiy reasons, the DDR is running at 333 mhz iv overclocked it to see if it helped, it cleared up alot of the blue screens i had before, the proccesser wasca amd athalon xp 1800+ its amd 2000+ 1624 mhz, i also enabled the spread spetctrum to see if that would help any bit, my FSB is 140 mhz, i cant stop the restarts, so ill post this now before it restarts itself,

I think u need to load setup default in the bios ,and pull out your pci cards while trying to install win xp .
Then ,if that works you start to install add-on cards 1 at the time .
Then start tweaking ur bios ,1 or 2 setting at the time ,so you will know what happened if things suddenly is starting to act up again.

Hope i helped ..
