DirectX 9
For those of you that have installed DirectX9 and Can't get some certain appz to work (Ive only found 3dmark2k1 so far that doesn't work, (because it checks that DX8.1 or lower is installed)

Alter this in Registry to Change the name of DX ..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftDirectX

Alter the "Version" to read "4.08.01.0810"

Now all Apps and games alike that wouldn't run will

This is for WinXP and Maybe Win2k also..


ps: Ive ran 3dmark seem to score 300 more.... ^voodoo

The entry is there in 9x/me too...I'm gonna try it and see if it works.

So from what i understand.. you must change "4.09.00.0080" to "4.08.01.0810" and then everything works??

Yep, it just makes games that check the directX version through the registry see that it's 8.1, instead of 9... it still uses the 9 files however.

Does anyone have some benchmarks from it yet?

Dunno why anyone's bothering installing it. Nothing requires, or is optimized for it. 1 site did some 3d mark tests & they all were lower with it.

The DirectX 9 beta is just a placebo - you'll get nothing beneficial from it at the moment.
