what quality setting have you chosen ??
do NOT choose ultra quality
high gives you the same quality but must run smooth
and you may revert any settings done to the driver ... goto control panel and set everything to default !
also you may think of reinstalling the driver or directly go for 4.9 beta ... th game must run smooth on your PC ... an btw
kick AA and AF !!!! its NOT needed within this game (and all others, too Big Grin)

Everyone may bitch about the NV30 but mines playing it brilliantly on High Quality with no glitches

Actually according to doom3 I'm getting around 60-70 fps.

Well Goliath, you must have something wrong with your Setup yo.

I play it at Ultra settings and 1280x1024 with my setup and it runs 25-35 fps just fine. I use the cat 4.7s. (just bought it today Wink )

Another 512 Stick of Ram might help you out alot also. Cause my processor is slower and I am owning your setup.

Service Pack 2 was just released also, you might wanna install that to correct any driver errors you might have then reinstall all your VIA chipset drivers from http://www.viaarena.com and vid drivers.

ive just won an auction for a brand new 9800xt and sold my radeon 9800pro for £3 less!!

i know that theres is little in the way of speed increase but will the larger frame buffer be able to compensate my lack of ram (i cant afford another dimm stick just yet)

i was getting really into this game but its getting a bit boring and predictable (yay im dying less); the gfx are without doubt brilliant but to be very honest they arent head and shoulders above the other new games around...

i ran the timedemo 2x and in the 1st 1 i got 22.8fps; i ran it again and this increased to 31fps... my conclusion is that the data isnt loading into the ram until it is required hence the slowdown... but if i die or have to restart the gameplay is smooth as silk; is there any way to overcome this??

as said ... Domm3 should work out of the box on your system ... you must have some serious problem ...
or some background apps running
or some bad drivers / bad configuration

tried to reset BIOS to defaults ??

im getting more confused; i just ran 3dmark 2001 and got 18167 which is in line for what my pc should get; 3dmark 2003 is 5900, which is fairly respectable

in pcmark 2002 i get 6900 in the cpu test, again in line for my pc

all scores that are fine for my system

im thinking that it may well be overheating as i saw it was on 62c but i thought that if the temp tops 70 my pc would switch off; is there an option to enable this? if i get a vantec copper cooler thing how much would my temps go down??
