Disaster with A7V266-EX HELP! PLEASE!

Here my story...

yesterday on my desktop

AMD Athlon TB 1.100mhz FSB 200 vcore 1.75
Asus a7v266-ex
Ram DDR 512mb 2300
SB Audigy 2
geforce 4200ti

i've received a Athlon XP Palomino 1700+ vcore 1.75 well..i was happy and started to mout it on socket because my mb support this processor.

My motherborad an ASUS A7V266-EX is died. yes... 2 days i'm tring to do everything is possible but my mb seem to be dead.
But let me think if i've some chances to resurrect my pc i'm so desperated.

Here what i done:

1 umounted heatsink and AMD TB
2 mounted new AMD XP and hetsink (a big one)
3 inserted the power cord
4 powered up
and....

NOTHING! BLACK SCREEN!

5 i reset the cmos

STILL NOTHING

6 I mount my old processor AGAIN to avoid problems and

STILL NOTHING!

7 changed the video card

NOTHING

cpu, video card fan start up, motherboard power led green up, hd start spinning..all seem fine but ssyetam WON'T BOOT UP...evene won't show any BIOS screen.

In these days i've tried to set manually the mb jumpers to right system clock (266FSB) and righ vcore(1.75) but nothing changed, i'm stuck!

But the GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENT is that after i mounted old amd back, system is still dead.

How could it be possible?!?
I've never seen something so weird in my tech-life....

If i take away the ram, the system beeep so the check seem to be fine.
I can't understand if the mb is damaged or not!
Anyway even if 1700+ is broken, why my old 1.100mhz won't solve the stall!?!?

PLEASE SOME PC-GOD HELP ME!!!

take the battery out of the mobo and clear the CMOS. Your manual will tell you where the jumpers are to do this. Try another stick of memory and video card. If this doesn't work contact Asus and get a RMA for it. From my experiences with them it should take about 3-4 weeks to get a warranty replacement. Good luck...

230volts so i thing 300-350watt

u disconnected the power-cable from the PSU?

yes

tried another PSU?

no but, don't u think could not be the PSU coz all other components work well, and mobo startup!

something i smelling like something burned?
sometimes the PSU but is just coz the fan stop some times...

u checked ALL Jumpers?
Yes the vcore and sys clock

u did nothing wrong when installing the HSF?
wat is HSF?

Anyway the problem is that EVEN WITH MY OLD CPU won't work anymore!

Ah i forgot to say... left inside cabinet only Video card, and power supply...nothing more to avoid conflicts.
Alredy tried cmos and jumper way.
I'm still not yet sure is a mb or other problems

*smile*

HSF = Heat Sink Fan = Cooler

sometimes the PSU but is just coz the fan stop some times...
that´s bad.....is ur PSU very hot?

no but, don't u think could not be the PSU coz all other components work well, and mobo startup!
i got almost same prob
i installed 2 CD-Roms and 4 HD´s and some USB Devs
after a reboot, same prob like u, "everythings" starts, but no screen
after months of checking,
THE PSU was too weak, i deinstalled all 4 "small" HD`s and bought 2 "Big"...since, no prob

edit: the new CPU never started up?

short, i think at installing the new CPU u killed ur board
the only thing i can tell u now is to change some Devs, if possible

PSU, BOARD

maybe u can check ur old CPU in another PC at a friend or something

unplug all Devs, and power cables from HD,CD,
only CPU+HSF,RAM, VGA, Power from PSU *smile*

so, that´s my end of ideas, sorry

mhhh...u tried to call Asus Hotline?
maybe sometimes they give good tips!?!

but warranty, i think they will say,
"U did something wrong, bad day" - maybe

so, if u bought ur board in a store next to u
u can go to him and ask what to do
if it´s a good store, he will send it back and gives u for that time another board
or they check the board and they can tell u much more
they should have special check-tools

Had same problem once...

What I've come to find over time and had similar problems with my original A7N8X Deluxe board...

First you have to make sure you UNPLUG Power Cable from back - Remove CMOS Battery - the one that looks like a watch battery on motherboard - then place jumper on RESET Pins for CMOS and let sit for 5 minutes... REASON: sometimes power is still in the motherboard and it can take a bit of time to clear completely...

Once all this is done - I had to use a PCI video card not a AGP - I always keep one around and in a box for just this reason...

For whatever reason the PCI card will give you the video you are looking for or that is not coming up with the AGP card...

Once you follow everything to T that I mentioned you should get video and get into CMOS (BIOS) and change to all proper settings then TURN OFF and replace PCI card with AGP card and BINGO everything worked and has been perfectly fine since...

GOOD LUCK... Give me the results if you can...

where have you bought the CPU ???
it is possible to kill ya mobo with the CPU when it has a fault
the only chance you got ... is to take you OLD CPU , RAM and your GPU to a friend and try em - if they do work ... you motherboard is dead
dunno where you got the new CPU .... but replace it with the motherboard .... asus will not replace it since "YOU" destroyed it ...
just test the 3 things above if they work ... go buy new mobo and maybe new CPU ... if not tell

btw have you set any jumpers when mounting the new CPU ?

and when you take a lamp and hold you CPU (new and old one) next to it ... reflecting light on surface is it
1. totally plane
2. red or white shining surface
3. a TRUE shap rectangle ... if there is any if so small damage on the surface tell ...

Hi
I don't think it was the cpu..
In fact, I got the same problem, too. But the cpu can't be defect at all, in fact I'm using it at the moment Smile
A friend of mine, has been using the same MB for about three moments, suddenly the screen turned black and it was dead....

So, if you got it working again, tell me how Big Grin

When you try to start the computer, you said nothing happens - does power supply works at all? Does PSU's fan rotates (does it put air outside)?

If PSU's fan is not working, then it is PSU damaged, if PSU fan is working, then (most probably) it is motherboard (maybe +something else).

This might seem a little stupid...but i have seen this before on a p4 board...are you sure your mounting the cpu in the mobo correctly? Cause in some cases it will let you mount and lock even if its the wrong way...and when you turn it on...it does the exact thing your saying....everything juices except for the processor, for your protection.
