Digital Camera, which one is better

I'm getting a Canon A60.
But i have an option, whether to choose for higher megapixel like 3.2 and NO optical zoom or lower megapixel as in 2.0 with 3x Optical Zoom.
Ok, which one is actually better ? Cry

Digital Photography For Everyone

PC Mag have thrown up a round-up of 21 digital cameras! Here's a snip.

For this story, we evaluate cameras in three popular categories: shirt-pocket shooters, midrange models, and professional models. The 21 cameras we test have much in common. All except the Olympus E-1 have a built-in flash, only the Canon PowerShot SD10 Digital Elph doesn't come with or accommodate a zoom lens, and all but the Fujifilm FinePix S7000 Zoom and the HP Photosmart 945 ship with rechargeable batteries. All the cameras have autofocus, macro settings, exposure compensation, selectable ISO equivalencies, and automatic white balance.

The differences, however, are significant. Shirt-pocket shooters are small, stylish, and sophisticated. They are go-anywhere, always-ready cameras. But packing all that technology into such a small design, they're harder to handle, especially for people with poor eyesight or arthritic hands. And most models come with fewer features and have slower performance, reduced battery life, and slightly inferior image quality.

There are two types of midrange models: One is designed for point-and-shoot use, for those who rarely stray from fully automatic mode and value simplicity over features. The other targets enthusiastic amateur photographers who want total control over f-stops and shutter speeds. This type of shooter also demands professional features like bracketing (taking a rapid sequence at different exposures or white balance settings), a hot shoe for attaching an external strobe, and the ability to save uncompressed RAW or TIFF images.

i can highly recommend the Konika Revio KD-410z (or 510z if you want 5megapixel instead of four).
This is my second cam, and its a huge improvement over the other. It turns on in 1.4 seconds and can take pictures extremely fast (about 1 per second if you arent using flash) - it also responds instantly to the 'trigger'.
Many cameras out there are too slow, but this one isnt.
it has 3x zoom and the image quality is great (no blue tones and the lightning and contrast is perfect - the auto correction features in photoshop doesnt make any changes to the pictures. It cant get more perfect than that Smile ).
look at http://elcoyote.deviantart.com for samples - the last 6-7 are with the Konika camera.

However i cannot recommend Thrust cameras Tongue

I've got the Canon PowerShot A80, 4 Megapixel with 3x optical + some crappy digital zoom.. Its great imo Wink

But.. If I were you Id raise some more money and buy a 3 or 4 megapixel camera with Optical Zoom. Cause when you use digital zoom the photos get really blurry and .. well, look awful. Even if you dont normally need the zoom, there will be occasions when you'd kill for some Wink

So from your msgs, i conclude that the optical zoom is just a hell bit more useful than an extra megapixel ?

Seems to me, the HP Photosmart 635 is a good choice.
I don't have any other options, it's a gift, have to choose, not umh, raise money and buy nother, hehehe.

yea dont get a camera without optical zoom - its is very usefull.
but the megapixel size determines the actual size of the picture - my 4megapixel gives a resolution of 2304x1704.

yea it is, but the pylons are good enough for me...
1: the bridge climb is aus$155!(way too much) and the pylon is aus$8.5
2: you cant bring your camera on the climb because of the road beneath it - theres a photographer you can buy pictures from afterwards...

its not a tour of Oz... just of New South Wales - the area around sydney. Tongue

its a bummer with the pictures, but i got a new and much better camera now.. Smile
