Digital camera recommendation

I'm thinking to get a digital camera for my girl friend. I'm liking the sony cybershot DSC-N1 and Canon SD550. which one is better. Is there any better option? Any opinion is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

i love my Ixus 40....ok, it's the first cam i bought, and maybe the zoom could be higher...

but the rest, the design, soooo slim, the big LCD....simply love it and won't miss it Smile

but if u want to spend more money, go for Canon EOS

btw: u've seen that review of sd550? there are also many other of Canon and Co., so u can compare

Yeah...i have seen then review for sd550, but the Sony DSC-N1 seems very good as well. Just don't know how to choose from these two. They both are very good. Any idea?

hey i know your probably looking for a higher MP camera but i bought the kodak 7530 like a year ago now and i love it. Good image quality (in my opinion), redeye nonexistent, simple to use, uses double A batteries so you can take it with wherever and not have to worry about recharging all the time, and it didn't cost me the price of a body part like some other cameras.

Heres some links for specs and user opinions:
http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/camera...hp?cam=591

Haven't had a single problem with the camera yet and i do use it quite frequently. Hope this helps

my ixus 40 goes for SD Card

but i don't really care about tech.
i mean
the only thing u can do is "Write", "Delete", "Format"

and the difference in speed...if u want to pay more for higher speed, ok
but the "normal" are good anyway with speed

and if MMC or others are better or not...pfff...
like i said, they have to do 3 simple things

its not about what you do with it but how its done ...
the speed is much higher which is important when you want to record videos
and you do not want to wait endless time until your pics are copied to the PC
+ the SD card got a protection against electrostatic discharge which can result in a data loss ...

I don't know about much about that. The reason i choose MMC is that it is usable in most mobile phone and camera. In the other hand, SD is only good for camera and some mobile phone.

I didn't really observed the MMC carefully when it is with me....so i guess i don't know whether it has a protection(lock/unlock) switch. Can anyone please tell me how to solve the Card locked problem.

Thanks in advances.
