Diactivate Lan when Shutdown

I have a A7N8X deluxe 2.0 and I will like to know if I can diactive lan when the system is shut down. The light on the Lan input is always on.

wake up on lan is off.

as soon as you really shut down PC network is off ... just look at another PC with winXP it will show cable not plugged

Yes but why is my cable modem and network card still lit up ?
With my previous board with PCI Card, the light was off once I shut down???

thats really strange ... try a CMOS reset and set all parameters again ...
an set option mustn't be really set - I had this problem some days ago ... set voltage to 1.775 and ran @ 1.68 reset ... set it again to 1.775 and voila 1.77V very strange

It's not a bug, most on-board lan's stay partly powered while the system is off (my 8kra2+ does this) It's just part of the wake-on lan setup, if you have it disabled in BIOS it won't wake up, but the hardware stays powered anyway. It's not really a problem as the card is completely off besides the WOL part, and won't send or recieve anything at all.


* If you want to get real technical, it's because the chip that connects to the lights and plug on the back of the mainboard is just acting like a mini hub to connect the network plug to the real network controller chip (most likely embedded in the southbridge controller.) The "hub" stays powered but the network chip itself is off.
