You can try the drivers available (huge download though) from compaq. They are version 5.12.2.252.

Though the creative site drivers came out a week later they are marked version 5.12.1.253.

ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp21501...P21636.exe

Whether the signficance of the "1" Vs "2" is version related or a marker of somesort can only be speculated on. I have yet to see Compaq or Creative give an official comment.

Drivers

I tend to think it is a jedi knight thing. Have you tried the goldmine demo with the latest drivers which test the cards 3d capabilities. If this works then you know the card actually works in 3d. If not then it is a gaming thing. Whether or not all games using direct X are effected is unknown. I will do some testing.

I think the problem is to do with the speakers resetting to 2 speaker, and possibly the openal file in windows/system32 getting deleted/overwritten by an older file which might only be a "wrapper"

Creative driver Mafia game only in stereo

In Mafia its the same it dosnt matter what i do in the game or in the creative mixer

the mixer will return to 2 speakers.

And that`s a big shame cause the sound in mafia is very very good.

Sad Nothing DK

this is nothing new, all creative drivers have been doing this in any NT os, i have a Sblive Platinum orginal, and i'm using drivers dated a year old, as the new drivers suck horribly (i don't wanna go indepth why, but less jus say my computer slows to a crawl with them) anyway these drivers randomly enable/disable Eax 1 and eax 2, and A3d, on boot.... but it dosn't matter Eax/a3d sound horrible in windows NT/2k/XP, its nothing like it should be in the liveware drivers for 9x, its consistantly muffled, like i turned treble all the way down, so i Jus use Direct sound calls in NT it sounds identical to how it should be, in 9x with Eax, Direct sound does in NT, and any game that supports eax supports direct sound 3d. Now about creative's driver team, ever since the audigy THEY havn't produced a decent driver for any of thier cards, its like they fired all the people that worked on the Sblives drivers.... Those were sweet till they started looking like the audgiy drivers, to this day i won't use the new drivers in NT, in 9x is ok, They have igorned it and left the old teams drivers for download.

Well I'm having this same problem in Windows XP Home (SP1). Latest Audigy XP driver and Jedi Knight updated to latest patch 1.04. Switching EAX on in the game seems to have no effect.

Audigy Diagnostics tool reports "fail" in mixer settings test (others ok).

Ok, fixed. The latest Audigy driver installs a new, hardware accelerated OpenAL32.dll API library file into c:\windows\system32\. JK2 has its' own OpenAL32.dll which is now invalid, so I removed it from game directory (<JK2_root>\GameData\OpenAL32.dll), rebooted and EAX works just fine.
