Chipset: I875P Canterwood + ICH5 (and ICH5R)

This is the chipset I am currently looking at for my new computer.

I was wondering if anyone had information on the difference between ICH5 and ICH5R, because the price difference is around 30 dollars.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Correct. ICH5R includes SATA RAID (2 ports) for RAID 0. ICH5 has no RAID function.

newer bios updates enable RAID 1 when using IAA RAID Edition 3.5

Well, i have asus p4c800 deluxe and i must say that this thing is damn fast. It has ICH5 southbridge and i dont mistt that 'R' a single bit. The motherboard is perfectly stable and fast which is the most important.
