Cheap DDR Ram

Hey guys,

Can anyone help me find some cheap ram?

I've got a Dell Dimension 8200, which obiviously has stupid DDR ram, and I only have 256MB. I'm looking for the cheapest possible way to upgrade this, cos I hear it has to be installed in symmetrical rows etc., and is a bit of a bugger.

Anyone know of a cheap and easy way?

Thanks,

Mark.

1- DDR ram is not stupid
2- It's only installed in pairs on dual channel memory capable motherboards
3- It isnt a "bugger" to install, infact its like the easiet component to install
4- Go to compusa and buy some PNY or Kingston brand ram....great bang for the buck

I just looked up the Dimension 8200.

you do not have double data rate (DDR) memory.

your system is built on the i850 chipset and supports rambus ram (RDRAM). PC800 RDRAM, specifically. Shop for that instead.

Good day.

ps- check out http://www.compuplus.com

yeah get the right RAM
open case
put case on stable ground
flip the modul holder to the left and right ...
set the module into the slot
put 1 finger left and one on the right side of the module
then carefully press the module in till it "clicks"
if its hard to press the module in give a little more pressure to one of the sides and press it in side by side

Thanks for all the quick help.

Feel like BIT of a retard, not even getting the type of memory in my machine right (DDR is the good stuff, how could I forget), thanks for clarifying that too.

Just to finally get this straight, cos it's dual channel, and I have 256MB, wanting to bump this up to 512, I need to buy a another pair of 128's, right?

dual channel is for DDR not for RD as I know ... just get another module (if you got free slot) and upgrade
