Cannot delete sound files

After recording a few things from a tape deck, using my soundcard ofcourse, I can't delete some sound files I don't need. Every time I attempt to delete any of them I get a "Error Deleting File or Folder" error, stating that I "Cannot delete [FILE]: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use." That's total BS! Even when I don't have any programs running, not in the background and especially not the program I was recording with, I still get the error stated above. I have even restarted the computer without any luck. I'm running Windows 2000 with SP3 installed.

Please, I need a solution A.S.A.P. because I need the hard drive space for more recordings.

It seems I can at last delete the sound files, but only when I attempt to after several hours since their creation and even then there's only a fraction of a chance it will work. The file I deleted the soonest from its creation was after 4 hours.

I'm not sure but you can try.

When you've finished to listen the sound file, click "File" menu and then click "Close". Now try to delete that file.

Ahh I had similar problem.
Next time if you cannot delete this files, go to taskmanager and close all explorer.exe (could be multiple explorer.exe running at same time)
Then in taskmgr -> File -> New task -> explorer
after loading the user interface (explorer.exe) try to delete the files.

If it wont help run scandisk ot come back here ^^
