Call of Duty Boycott?

http://www.planetcallofduty.com/

GG Mania is reporting that there may be a 24-hour boycott of the online portion of all Call of Duty games if Infinity Ward does not address the following issues:

The statement should include the following:
1. When will you include an Anti-Cheat system for COD2?
2. When you you release your 1st patch for COD2?
3. What will it include?
4. What other plans have you for the support of the Call of Duty Games?
5. What will you do to ensure this situation does not arise again?

If you read the initial message in the IWN forum, its more of a boycott due to no communication from Infinity Ward if they will or will not be adding any patch or anti-cheat. IW refuses to comment, period. The CoD community went through this with the first CoD game, and are now going through it again. Anybody would be upset over purchasing a flawed product, whether it be a OS, app or game. The game should have had some form of official anti-cheat in it out of the box, why they would not include anything like it is beyond me.

I think the EULA would say the software is sold "as is".

There is never any guarantee or promise of them "have to" release patches, and/or "have to" provide certain features.

Maybe some proud PC gamers!? want to be feel good about being a fanboy of a supposedly great game ... but, in reality, the software kinda sucks? Reality bites!

Above all, stoping playing the game for 24-hours does not really accomplish anything ...

I tried the single player demo and was pleased when my opteron and x800gto@16pipes made it run more smoothly but any thoughts of buying this game have gone out of the window after reading this.

After playing (edit: Sony's) star wars galaxies and the appalling treatment of its dedicated player base I hold game support and fixing bugs that the community asks for very highly on my list of priorities. They completely changed the game twice, and moreso the 2nd time and dumbed it down and made it less customisable, less longevity. They did this so they could get out of the endless loop of making changes to one class then the other class everyone chooses (but if they dont want to support it why do I pay monthly sub in advance 6month in my case).

I think for anyone to sneer at this action being taken by gamers must not have a clue about games in general.:finger:

Online games should have cheat prevention as standard. If a game is worth playing but the cheaters make it unplayable then its a bad game period.

not supporting a game is its death ...
one reason why there are so much warez is that there simply are too much bad game / with bad support
any game that is seriously supported will survive decades
(just look at blizzard games)
but good games with good support are very rare

and I think its a good action ... although I don't think it will have much of an effect ... it really is time to fight back against the money-is-everything-a-game-should-be-made-for attitude that is widely spread

just look at all those stupid console ports where the potential of a PC is not used just to make it as easy for devs as possible to earn more money

I just remember the anno 1503 thing where they did not include a MP and said this will come with a patch but the patch never arrived (not that I like anno) but this is cheating the customer

but the best thing to do is to spend 50% of the development costs for a copy protection that makes it impossible for customers to use the product, gives crackers fun and makes leechers happy that the game works as usual

more of the mentioned action should follow
give us more SONY scenarios !!!!
there is not only XPC there is starforce and more

I can Understand why Users get Angry with some Game Developers.
I Just bought a few Games the Last Months and ran in Trouble with Grafical Issues,Bluescreen etc.

But the Worst think is what happend to me with EAs Need for Speed-Most Wanted.I Paid 46€!!! and i was Unable Even to Install the Game because of Different Errors in the Game Installer.
I Even cannot give it Back at the Store, because i opened the SecurityTape.
Neither the EA Forum or the Hotline (1€ cost per Minute) can Help me out, they Say it Deppends on my XP64bit that i cannot Install, and thats not the fault of EA -Bang.
Next game from EA will sure be not bought from a Store.
I Better get an illegal Copy, than pay 50€ Again for some Crap and unfinished Software.

Same thing with EA's battlefield 2, I had to repartition and reformat my operating system hardrive to have enough space for it to think about installing!

A good installer will ask u "where do u want to extract the setup files". Not u do not have enough space on your primary operating system's partition. I had at the time a clean 109Gb partition on my 2nd drive. :knife:
