To buy NV30 or to wait for NV35? Maybe not a big dilema?

Since NV35 is coming out in november or december next year, i don't believe that i will spend more money on graphic cards until i see NV35 at the store. What is your opinion?

And then the nvXX will be 6-12 months after the NV35, so you'll wait all your life.

Save yourself the headache and buy an ATI 9700 today... or wait for ATI R350 which will be out about the time NV30 finally shows, R350 will STOMP on NV30 and probably close to NV35(latest news puts this in Late 03 at the earliest) Plus it won't cost you TWO PCI slots for the DUSTBUSTER!

I'm stickin with my geforce ti 4600 i've had it for almost a year now, its still a top card, and Until i see a game that actualy can bring it down to its knees without being cpu dependant, I'll get a new gfx card. Also the Geforce FX ultra as its gonna be called, is employing a blower type fan..... I can jus imagine the dust that is gonna collect, and blower type fans jus don't last as long for some reason, as standard ball bearing case fans. the Geforce FX normal ver is gonna employ a standard 1u heatsink/fan tho, but its clocked lower.

big Deal it eats another SLot, THE SLOT next to the agp slot Is shared with the agp bus! its a useless slot, and impossible to get a card into it if theres a agp card installed also. The blower fan does suck tho, THEY fail to often.

Well i'm not saying that i will wait for all of my life but is was a good move by me that i skipped GF3. I made a jump from GF2 ultra 32ddr to the asus v8460 deluxe 128 ddr. It is simple: u can't and must not buy everything new from nvidia. So, i will just wait till november and buy NV35 while some of u will drule in front of monitors watching the possibilities of NV35. Then i wil skip the next version and buy next after next and so on... It is a lot easier that way... And less expensive. For now my card is one of the top cards on the market (if we don't count Quadro XGL) and i won't even speak about ATI because i don't like it.

I wonder how anyone can even think of purchasing Nvidia cards anymore. I used to buy Nvidia simply because ATIs drivers were trash but the last 10 releases have been gold and the ATI software/TV-OUT/Multi-Media puts Nvidias best efforts to shame. I'm a computer systems technician and virtually everyone I know is buying ATI because the TV-OUT is so important to them. I actually use ATI MMC as my default video player and I have never been so happy with a remote in my life (Remote Wonder). The remote works on the third floor of my house and I live in the basement!

Why it is taking Nvidia so long to release a card to compete with ATis ALL-IN-WONDER series? I have been waiting for over 2 years with little to no answer. Anyone who prings up "Personal Cinema" obviously never used it. The TV-OUT was trash quality 800x600 with Geforce MX graphics... Who would waste their $$$ on that? I know a lot of you kids just use your graphics cards for gaming but when your income expands and you have a custom build monster PC connected to your kick-ass TV then you will understand the importance of TV-OUT. I don't even rent movies anymore. I just download everything: Movies (I have 500Divx flicks), music, games, magazines..... I save enough on media to buy a new video card every 6 months ! Wink

What you should really do is buy a card like the NV30, OR a 9700, because for a long time theirs not going to be a game to really touch those!
I mean seriously you cant just say
the 350 from radeon will kill the NV35 when its out even, look at the time frame, 6-10 months??? In that time do you think NV will over look the features of the R350 and just be like OK LETS BE FREAKIN MORONS AND BUILD A SLOWER CARD!
NOOOO They wont!

Either way, ATI and NVIDIA are good companies, I dont care if you like 1 or the other more, its the quality of the card that counts, and quite frankly ill use my frekin GF4TI4200 for as long as possible then just upgrade to the next best thing when a game comes out that challenges my card,

AthlonXP 2800+ Barton
MSI K7N2-L Nforce2
BFG 6600GT OC
1.5GB DDR333 Dual Channel
16x Pioneer DVD. 48x Lite-On RW.
2x Seagate Baracuda 80GB
Audigy 2ZS w/ 5.1 speakers

The ongoing ATI vs Nvidia arguement....

My simple take on VladimirRaver's question & a reply to some of the other peoples opinions...

1st Vlad. I personally have a GF4 Ti 4200 & as far as I can see Doom3 is the only game coming out in the future that is going to require me to get a much better video card.. This 6 month turn around on video cards is in my opinion a joke.... If you can sustain 60 FPS even in extreme situations then your card is more than good enough.. Also lets face it, us hardcore online gamers often put the graphics quality much lower as an edge against our competition.. For instance RTCW, Q3, ect, ect.. Any true hardcore RTCW player with skill will tell you playing with the settings maxed as dark as the game is naturally is ridiculous... Most of us will tweak the config as much as possible to see the enemy from as far away as possible which results in 32 bit color being pretty much useless along with all the bells & whistles being needless for online.. I couldn't care less about ejecting brass, & why do you need dynamic lighting in RTCW?? Single player however is a different story.. That's when I like to see all the graphics & I still do not need a ATI 9700 Pro for that... Not to mention the 8500 I used to own pretty much killed ATI for me.. So.. It boils down to the simple fact of what exactly do I need a 9700 Pro for?? The answer is absolutely nothing for me... Does the 9700 Pro look any better at 120 FPS than my GF4 4200 does at 80? I think not...

2nd.. Some1 named Guest was talking about Nvida putting out a product to compete against ATI's all in wonder series.. Let me get a couple quotes here...

"I'm a computer systems technician and virtually everyone I know is buying ATI because the TV-OUT is so important to them" Big deal!!! Its great that your so happy with your all in wonder but some of us couldn't care less about having a card with TV out & frankly your job doesn't add any more importance to your opinion... Your whole post is about using your card to watch downloaded movies & my take on the original post is this person is asking about a new video card for games...

Its all about what's really needed... The 9700 Pro isn't really needed yet unless you spend your entire life running bench marks just to brag on the net that you have the fastest system around & to make all your friends jealous.. I mean the 9700 Pro can't even be looked at as really needed for DirectX 9 sense its not even out #1 & #2 no games even support it yet.. The 9700 Pro isn't going to make you a better gamer. All its going to do is empty your wallet & provide you with a lot of useless features for the time being.. All it can offer is speed & frankly there are alot of other cheaper cards out with more than plenty of that..

Just my opinions... & 1 more opinion.. After the hell I went through with my 8500. ATI might as well be a person with Aids bleeding everywhere.. In my opinion NVIDIA is king of support, stability, & drivers... The speed title will always change hands, if not by ATI & NVIDIA then some1 else will come along to help US the consumer with technology advancements...

Let the flames begin...[/u]

can anyone really give their opinion on the something having to do with GeForceFX at this time. i think looking at some specs and thinking you know how the actual hardware is going to perform in real life isn't very cool. why dont we make a judgement after we see a good deal of reviews.

i getting NV30 or NV35

i am runnin on a geforce 2 mx 400 64mb now it is cozing lots of lagging in my gaming but with a few settings i can just get it to work well. but now my graphics sucks i was going to get a TI 4600 until i heard about the NV30 and now i m still waiting.. but i guess i will just have to suffer....but if my gaming still go well i until the end of next year then i will get the NV 35...........

and i m not even thinkin about ATI ...... their prices are tooooo high and even if they go on to higher peformance(now they are)their driver releases take ages...

so i am not going on one side... i m just saying that if ATI lower their prices and have rapid driver releases like nvidia then i will also love ATI..

but TOO BAD

Yes, NV30 will be 30% faster than the 9700....that makes sense. What DOESN'T make sense is Nvidia releasing their answer to the 9700 six months after their only competition releases theirs. This frustrates me to no end. Technically Nvidia has lost half a product cycle and now ATI is in the lead. Personally I've only ever owned Nvidia products because of ATI's drivers compared to Nvidia's. Soon ATI will have unified driver architecture just like Nvidia does now and that will be almost certain doom for Nvidia.

In summary Nvidia is 6 months behind and apparently have no plans to catch up with ATI. Once ATI's drivers are squared away (soon) I think all rational people will make the switch to ATI.

well here is my opinion on the matter. I've noticed with every release of an Nvidia card the first initial release has some bugs and stability problems. After a few months they release a new version of the card with newer bios and small fixes. There was the Geforce 3 then a few months later came the ti200 and ti500 then the geforce 4 came out and now there is the 8x agp version which is nv28. I personally just bought a geforce 4 ti4200 a few months ago and am going to keep that for probally a year or so then look and see what is available and make my purchase decision from there but I am not going to buy a brand new nvidia card right when it comes out. I plan on waiting at least 4 months after the release to get mine when they have newer bios releases with the card and maybe a newer version of the card with a few fixes.

Before gf4 ti4200 128,which i bought 3 weeks ago,i was using 3d prophet 4500 with Kyro II chipset and 32mb sdram. The fact is in gaming i didn.t have any problems.I was playing RTCW at 1152x864 with no lagging that means if u have a good cpu ,gpu will work just fine.the only difference i saw with the gf4 is more fps and only in few games better quality of grafics.
In my opinion every 1-1.5 years we should make an upgrade and this is considerable
