Best Mobo And GFX Settings

Hey guys,

I'm looking to push my system to the limit.

I'm very happy with the increase in speed that my newly aquired 5800 ultra has given me over my old Geforce 3 but you know what it's like every little bit of performance you can squeeze out of you rig counts.

Here's my current settings : -

Det 51.75 on stanadard Quality and High image quality settings

AGP Running with Fast Writes and Sideband addressing
Graphics Aperture Size set to 128mb
AGP wait states for write and read are enabled

Well hope you guys have some good suggestions as I'm craving to hit another 10fps in raven shield.

disable FW ... test
disable SBA ... test

in some cases / cards activation of those features slow card down .... yeah .... sound strange but I experienced that with my GF2 that it was 5% slower with FW

Don't just try to maximize the speed of you video card, maximizing the speed of you RAM is very helpful too. I have gain 800 points in 3D MArks 2001 by just make full use of my RAM. It also helps in Real-world game like UT 2003.
Beat of Luck!..

the performance differetn was negligable.

I only had a few FPS difference with sb addressing / Fast writes enbaled some benchmarks showed an increase some showed a decrease.

I was wondering what have you guys got your video bios cacheable and video shadowing settings set on on your motherboards?

Mine are all disabled.

Disable all BIOS/Video shadowing and caching, these only made a difference back in the dos days when operating systems actually needed the bios to access hardware. (now it's all via software drivers.)

Theres a few good articles around on why bios/video caching are no longer needed, and in some cases can hurt stability. Check out the bottom few sections on this page for a good explaination.

maybe you should write down all options in BIOS you don't know and look them up on http://www.bios-info.de ... hmmm only problem ur not german ... but maybe youcan get it anyway ?
and as you set the AGP AS to 128 you can set it higher ... 512 or 256 even if you do not have that much of RAM ...

I've got 1gb Ram and 128 DDR-II on the graphics card.

I didn't think I'd need to change graphics aperture.
