Battlefield 1942 problem.

Im having real trouble playing Battlefield 1942, it's lagging beyond unacceptable, and I don't understand why, my hardware is good enough to run this game smoothly. I have tried using lowest resolution with practically no details what so ever, disabling the sound and all, and still it's unplayable.

This is my hardware specs:
ASUS A7V333 RAID, AMD XP 2000+, 256Mb PC2100 RAM, Geforce3 Ti500.

I really need help, please help! Smile

Battlefield 1942

Big Grin My stats are -
Athlon 1.3Ghz
640MB SDram
Geforce 3 Ti 200 (40.52version drivers)
Sound Blaster live value
Via chipset KT 133

All up to date drivers, and patch for game installed.

Have to run game in 800x600 32bit,medium graphic settings and only 200% bots (about 20 players each side).
Anything more and frame rates start to drop a lot. :o

Stupid game :)

Well, I will just have to wait for a patch, I heard from one of the developers of the game that decreasing the soundquality from 44KHz to 22KHz will improve gameplay up to 40%(!!!), this is a major bug in this game appearently, he also told me that this would probably just work with SB cards. I noticed another thing while running this game, it used up all of my RAM, in my opinion 256Mb should be enough for gaming.

Yup its got a memory leak somewhere. If i pull one stick of ram out "I have 512 DDR" leaving me with 256megs the game runs like a slug.Put that other stick back in and its 100X's smoother.

How nice!

Good, because I ordered a 512Mb PC2700, hoping it will fix the problem.

Mine runs great with 2x AA, 2x Anistropy, 1024x768x32, every video option maxed out, and every sound option maxed out.

New stats (Gotta change my sig.)

1.2 GHz Athlon T-Bird
512 MB PC133
Visiontek GeForce4 MX440 (270c/405m)
7200 RPM HDD
Windows ME

For some reason, BF1942 runs WAAAAAAY better than my buddy's overclocked GeForce4 Ti4200 with the same options above ... I think it might be a conflict with Windows XP ...

CPU - AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz T-Bird processor
RAM - 512 MB PC133 SDRAM
OS - Windows ME
Tuner - RivaTuner
GPU - Visiontek Xtasy GeForce4 MX440 (280c/480m)
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-7ZX
3DMark2001 SE - 4968

Fixed

Well, the problem vanished when I changed my RAM from 256Mb PC2100 to 512Mb PC2700. This game had a frickin' memory leakage, as it seems now, cause I don't think it requires over 256Mb RAM...

Im VERY sure. Have been using ad-aware for a year. And as you can see some posts up, I fixed the problem, the game has a memory leak. =)

Memory leaks aside, this game HATES creative sound cards. I have almost identical specs and I can't run with sound hardware acceleration enabled. I have to run dxdiag and turn down the acceleration all the way before I can play without static and/or slideshow. If you have further problems run dxdiag from start--->run click on sound and move the slider all the way to the left. Just remember to turn it back up for your other games. LOL
