When this comes true, what are the firms doing who are producing copy ware? like clonecd, clonyCD and all this?

All they have to make bankcrupt?and all the people lose their working place? mhh... is that a good idea?
In my opinion, the copy don´t stop, if you want to copy something u have to search in the right sites.
it s more difficult then but who cares?

So if backup my sys with all the progs installed on it(with norton ghost 4 example), this becomes illigal, this is crazy. What about firms who backup their servers and so? also illigal?
oh my!!, crazyness.

this is really great! if you have more games than cd drives you inevitably have to shuffle your cds because for most games the original cd have to be in the drive for gaming. this leaves them to the risk of getting scratched or otherwise damaged. if this law gets ratified the distributors should be forced to replace damaged cds for free!

another point are music cds. if i want to listen to my say 15 favorite song in my car, i used to burn a collection of songs from about 15 cds or so, so i don't have to carry my whole cd rack around. what should i do when i'm not allowed to anymore?

well, actually this is a bit hypothetical because i live in switzerland and eu laws don't apply to us but what if our copyright laws are adapted to eu jurisdiction? (which happened to a number of other laws already)

in my opinion this law is crap and again the consumer is the fool. to clear up things: i'm not against copyright protection but this goes way to far!

All I can say is "So what!"

At this point in time there is not one thing they can do about it.

I pay my money for thier goods, If i want to make a copy so I don't ruin the original. Well then that's my perogative....
Tough shit is what I say and if they don't like it well they should chew harder. LOL

It is ALSO illegal to over-charge for blank recording media and divy the profits amongst the recording {and/or other} industry, LAWS HAVE BEEN PASSED. THEY, cannot have it both ways.
I've bought the media and therefore own it, I've never been told that I've rented any media thru any payment.
Think carefully, should the US congress get it's way, the entire computer industry will come to a HALT, simple as that.
