Athlon XP 1800+

Yo guys,
i just wanted to know some stuff about the 1800+ series of the
athlon. Apparantly there are like 4 editions. One that has
.18 micron core, one with .13 micron, and one is rev B, and one is
rev A. And i heard that the rev A is bad, and the rev B is awesome.
Now which one is the thoroughbred? isn't it the one with .13 and
rev B? My athlon xp 1800+ is green, what does that mean then?
Ok thanks.

BTW, I purchased my athlon very recently, and it was boxed.

Ok . By my guess the green XP CPU's are the newer ones. which actually are cooler than the brown ones. I also have Athlon XP 1800+ brown cpu . havent look for rev. on CPU but as soon as my PC is down i will look for it.

So look for my next post here(after some investigation )..

KYRO.

The green ones are the newer organic packaging. There are no thoroughbred 1800's, thoroughbreds start at 2200+. The difference between the A and B revisions only matters if you intend to overclock.

When the 2200+ came out AMD said they are going to revise earlier Athlon XP's to the Thoroughbred cores. After AMD(and the rest of us) found out Thoroughbred Rev A sucks they steped to Rev B.

there are in fact all three types of 1800+

the colour wont tell you but the part no/stepping code will

AX1800DMT3C = Palamino
AXDA1800DLT3C = Tbred A
AXDA1800DUT3C = Tbred B

Also the voltage will be lower for the Tbreds

Tbred A = 1.6-1.65v
Tbred B = 1.6v
Pallys = 1.75v

Cheers Smile
