50 Degress Celsius to high?

I am running an Athlon XP 2200+ (1800 Mhz) and I have 50 Degress Celcius on load and 42 - 45 on idle.

Is it ok or to high?

Using a Artic Silent Pro CPU Cooler with 2500 rpm.

Best

It's not so high for a AMD processor, my T-Bird ran at 50-60°C, Now im using an XP2000+, which is down at 45°C, with a powerful CPU fan, ThermalTake Volcano7, but im so damn tired of the loud sound it makes, so I ordered a Zalman fan today.

AthlonXP's are rated upto 80'C or so (though not recommended Wink

It's getting into summer here in Australia and my 1800+ hasn't dropped below 52'C for a couple of weeks. I have't had any troubles with it though.

thunderbird?

gee and i thought thunderbirds were supposed to be hotter than xp's?
my thunderbird idled at 45C during winter, and (australia) is now idling about 49. under load yesterday which was quite warm i got up to 65C. I have heard that thunderbirds can't handle much more than 70C. I currently have a volcano 6CU (the 4500rpm one, with AS2) but i'm thinking of going with a thermalright slk-800, and changing my ide cables to round ones, which should help my air flow alot....

My System (Athlon XP 2100+@1822 Mhz with Silverado-Cooler) runs at 55 °C idle and max 63°C on load. I have an Asus-Mobo (A7V-KT266A).
I read on other Sites that Asus-Boards displays 10 degrees celsius more than the real temperature.

Is that right? I found no information at Asus-Website.

Thank you for help!

Are you using the "Asus PC Probe" to readout the temperature ?
Compare your temp. in Windows & in BIOS.

Code:
I read on other Sites that Asus-Boards displays 10 degrees celsius more than the real temperature.

Can you post a Link ?

Yes I use Asus PC Probe. I also have installed Motherboard Monitor and Sisoft Sandra. All programs show the same temperature.
The bios-Temp is the same.

I heard that not the Asus-Software shows 10 degrees more than normal. The Temp-Sensors under the CPU gives a higher temp.

What for a link should I post?

When comparing temperatures of different CPU and mainboards please remeber not all boards or CPU support reading out the internal temp sensor of AthlonXP ! > T-Bird have no internal sensor so the external is used .
A 2200+ with 50 degrees from internal sesnor is good - with external sensor not very good - close to bad

LOL I have a Amd XP 2100+ running at about 30 degrees celsius at maximum fan speed, but when I turn it down kuz its damn noisy it usually idle at about 34 degrees celsius, and after a rowdy 2hr game of Counterstrike the CPU is at around 43 degrees celsius (when fan turned down), or 37 at full speed. But my case and cpu fan give me a small advantage.

xp 2100+ (default speed) 0.18die
384 ddr 2100
gf3 ti 200 128 ddr
 ecs k7s5a mobo sys/mem 266/266
8) chen ming x-pider case
8) thermaltake volcano 9 (no coolmod Cry )

anyone know if the new xp 2100 in thororororoughbred (*spelling) would run any cooler than my current processor?
