this article is simply awesome ... clears out those BS things
I love tweaking ... but I never experienced any performance increase when applying most of the "tweaks" there ... you just save yourself a lot of trouble with just ignoring this BS

I agree, I have no idea how many times I've read "This tweak will net you "XX% preformance improvement" I I've either ended up with no gain at all or booting into safe mode just so I can undo some of the garbage tweaks that did more damage then good. After I while I just simply gave up and put a lot of these tweak ideas in the same catagory I put Spammers in.

Nice compilation alright :) A lot of tweaks are just placebo (Depending on the source, was it not the Inquirer that posted up that Longhorn Super cache "tweak"?, that's why I never read that site anyway, no fact checking). I swear, if someone posted up on a forum to add a line to the system.ini;
EnableSuperFastPerformanceMode=1
People would do so & believe they got a decent boost from it.

It's the same thing with that nglayout.initialpaint.delay option in Firefox. It doesn't speed up browsing! It only allows you to set the delay before Firefox attempts rendering the page. Lower values can if anything *slow down* the speed at which it takes to load a page.
