xp-AntiSpy version 3.8

XP-AntiSpy is a little utility that lets you disable some built-in update and authentication 'features' in WindowsXP. For example, there's a service running in the background which is called 'Automatic Updates'. If you like, you can even disable these functions manually, by going through the System and checking or unchecking some checkboxes. This will take you approximately half an hour. But why wast time when a little neat utility can do the same in 1 minute? This utility was successfully tested by lots of users, and was found to disable all the known 'Suspicious' Functions in WindowsXP. It's customiseable, but comes up with the Default settings, which are recommended.

By all means, turn off auto-updates and get invaded through each and every security loophole there is in your OS... What a super idea, man!

No, really. People who are paranoid over stuff like this are idiots and deserve whatever happens to them.

Well, you may think that, but alot of people just dont want to fool around with services(mostly us IT peep who KNOW what we are doing in the first place),and this is a nice tool to disable alot of auto junk....especially on a fresh install.

And BTW,a firewall(of ANY kind)is alot better than MS's updates......who do you work for?

Cheers!

Firewalls just don't shield you against every type of attack. My philosophy is to keep my boxes up-to-date with MS updates, disable all unneeded services - and no firewall. My boxes have NEVER been compromised. Firewalls can be a lot more trouble than they're worth.
