As always with gaming consoles, we all have our favourites. Whether it's Nintendo, Sony, or Microsoft, everyone seems to have their own agenda for picking their favourite. Sometimes it's simply brand loyalty, sometimes it's because of a single game franchise.

But what do the developers think? I contacted my friend, who is a lead programmer for a large publisher who makes games for all major consoles and PC. I asked him which is the best console from his perspective. Not necessarily the best to develop for, but what would be the best buy today? The answer may surprize you...

Sorry, but that "lead programmer" sounds too much xbox 360 biased.

Ive read so many articles like this one in the last few days and they all say something different.
Right now only time will tell which console will be the better and even then its still only the games that decide the race.

He's looking at it from a DEVELOPER'S perspective...genius. It's also called an "opinion"...you should look up that word btw.

I think the writer of this article is very young

or just inexperienced

and he thinks the world of consoles is extremely exciting...

Did a fanboy bite again?
Might want to read my comment again.

I said I read several of such articles that "interview" some developer and they all say something different.

Its also the way he says it. Doesnt really sound very professional or experienced at all.

Comparing a single release game to a game from a 1 year old console is, well you know, fanboish.

"Its also the way he says it. Doesnt really sound very professional or experienced at all."

It probably wasn't "very professional" with John Carmack called the PS3 a "pain in the ass" to develop for either then.

360 Fanboy propaganda? lol

The quote you mean was mid 2005...........
He even admitted that the Sony dev kit was very, very early.

Heres a more recent quote from him about it from January 06:

"They are both powerful systems that are going to make excellent game platforms, but I have a bit of a preference for the 360’s symmetric CPU architecture and excellent development tools. The PS3 will have a bit more peak power, but it will be easier to exploit the available power on the 360. Our next major title (Quake 4) is being focused towards simultaneous release on 360, PS3, and PC."

Of course youre hearing something like that from a PC developer. Last I heard the Xbox360 had a design very similar to PCs. But that may be just PS3-fanboy propaganda. Just maybe........................... ;)
