Xbox 2 - Everything we know

GameSpy have gathered all the lastest info on Xbox 2 and put it altogether in a 7 page article!

With the release last week of a purportedly leaked white paper directly from a Microsoft employee, speculation has begun anew over the state of the follow-up console to Microsoft's Xbox. For months, Xbox fans and industry wags have been putting their two cents in regarding the console, speaking up on everything from the name of the system to the detailed specifications to the possible launch titles, but it's hard to figure out who to believe. Well, we're here to tell you that we don't know who to believe either, but we're going to try to give you all of the details we could find on the new system.

Now, you've got to remember one thing when speculating on upcoming (and as-of-yet unannounced) new hardware: things change. In fact, things are almost guaranteed to change. It's a long time from the beginning of the development process to the end of manufacturing, and as companies see what their competitors are doing, or as they take feedback from fans, they'll tweak their plans accordingly. That's how it's always been, and how it will probably always be. So, please, don't be mad at us if we seem somewhat ambiguous at times, or if we turn out to be wrong about certain things. We're only human (as far as you know).

They use 120GB HD's? Good if that is also correct with retail version. Ideas of using memory cards plain s-u-c-k.

Well, I never bought the first one, but have always been impressed with the Dolby 5.1 and all of the after-market tweaks. If they bring it out before the Sony or Nintendo machines I might pick one up. The main thing the first one lacked IMO was exclusive content, and it looks like MS has finally learned that.
This next round of the console game wars should be interesting. Right now *most* major games are ported to all 3 systems and the PC as well. Everything usually boils down to a few exclusive games (a la Nintendo's 1st part games and Sony's random exclusives like Tekken or Final Fantasy) vs. MS's stronger system and better online play. Even PC's are getting a lot of game ports and because of the higher specs usually have the BEST version even if they are sometimes late. Should be interesting to see what stances MS, Nintendo, Sony, and PC hardware creators take in the next 2-3 years.
